Is it possible to retrieve the HTTP body upon a non-2xx response?

How to send a POST request with BODY in swift

This is my request with Alamofire, for a certain request it sometime works, but sometimes i get:

    Optional(Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=3840 &quot;The operation couldn’t be completed. (Cocoa error 3840.)&quot; (Invalid value around character 0.) UserInfo=0x78e74b80 {NSDebugDescription=Invalid value around character 0.})

I&#39;ve read that this can be due to invalid JSON, but the response is a static json string that i have validated in JSON validator as valid. It does contain &#229; &#228; &#246; characters and some HTML.

I am attempting to upload a file using `Alamofire`. The upload works fine when using a File (`NSUrl`), however, I cant seem to figure out how to use the `NSData` option?

This is what I have as a test:

Uploading file with parameters using Alamofire

how is it possible to send a POST request with a simple string in the HTTP body with Alamofire in my iOS app?

As default Alamofire needs parameters for a request:

These parameters contain key-value-pairs. But I don&#39;t want to send a request with a key-value string in the HTTP body.

POST request with a simple string in body with Alamofire

I am running XCode 7, Swift 2.0, iOS 9. 

I want to install Alamofire in my project using Cocoapods. I have done the following:

`gem install cocoapods`

`pod setup`

`pod init`

Updated Podfile to:

    use_frameworks!
    
    target &#39;JSONeg&#39; do
    
      pod &#39;Alamofire&#39;, :branch =&gt; &#39;swift-2&#39;

Then I installed the pod:

And I added the following to ViewController.swift

`import Alamofire`

This raises the following error:

`Cannot load underlying module for &#39;Alamofire&#39;`

I tested with another pod and it raised the same error, so I guess the problem is with the installation of Cocoapods. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cocoapods + Cannot load underlying module for &#39;x&#39;

Our update has been rejected twice today for ipv6 network connectivity issues. Our networking code has not changed between the previous release and this current release. 

The app only makes https network requests to api.metooapp.io, which is correctly configured for ipv6 [[0](https://ip6.nl/#!api.metooapp.io)] and runs behind route53 on AWS. There are no hard-coded IP addresses in the code.

 I am unable to reproduce this issue, even after following the steps to create an ipv6 network at [[1](https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/NetworkingInternetWeb/Conceptual/NetworkingOverview/UnderstandingandPreparingfortheIPv6Transition/UnderstandingandPreparingfortheIPv6Transition.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40010220-CH213-SW1)] which is the link that was provided in the rejection notice. AlamoFire asynchronous completionHandler for JSON request

I&#39;ve read couple tutorials, README from @mattt but can&#39;t figure out couple things.

1. What is the proper usage of `URLRequestConvertible` in real world API? It looks like if I will create one router by implementing `URLRequestConvertible` protocol for all API - it will be barely readable. Should I create one Router per endpoint?

2. Second question most likely caused by lack of experience with Swift language. I can&#39;t figure out why `enum` is used for building router? Why we don&#39;t use class with static methods?
here is an example (from Alamofire&#39;s README)

3. There are 2 ways to pass parameters:

and (say user has 4 parameters)

        case ReadUser(String)
        case UpdateUser(String, String, String, String, String)
        case DestroyUser(String)
@mattt is using the first one in the example. But that will lead to &quot;hardcoding&quot; parameters&#39; names outside the router (e.g. in UIViewControllers). 
Typo in parameter name can lead to error.  
Other people are using 2nd option, but in that case it not obvious at all what each parameter represents.  
What will be the right way to do it? 

Proper usage of the Alamofire&#39;s URLRequestConvertible

Is there a way to log each request / response using Alamofire (something similar to AFNetworkActivityLogger) ?

I am aware of Printable, DebugPrintable and Output (cURL) but they are not quite what I am looking for.

How can I log each request/response using Alamofire?

I&#39;m experiencing some strange behaviour with my test app. I&#39;ve about 50 simultaneous GET requests that I send to the same server. The server is an embedded server on a small piece of hardware with very limited resources. In order to optimize the performance for each single request, I configure one instance of `Alamofire.Manager` as follows:

    let configuration = NSURLSessionConfiguration.defaultSessionConfiguration()
    configuration.HTTPMaximumConnectionsPerHost = 2
    configuration.timeoutIntervalForRequest = 30
    let manager = Alamofire.Manager(configuration: configuration)

When I send the requests with `manager.request(...)` they get dispatched in pairs of 2 (as expected, checked with Charles HTTP Proxy). The weird thing though is, that all requests which didn&#39;t finish within 30 seconds from the first request, get cancelled because of the timeout at the same time (even if they haven&#39;t been sent yet). Here is an illustration showcasing the behaviour:

Is this an expected behaviour and how can I make sure that the requests won&#39;t get the timeout before they are even sent?

I wonder if it&#39;s possible to directly send an array (not wrapped in a dictionary) in a POST request. Apparently the `parameters` parameter should get a map of: [String: AnyObject]?

There is no problem with Alomofire calls as I can successfully retrieve value. My problem is how I am supposed to carry this `data` over to my table view controller?

What are Embedded Binaries in Xcode?

I am trying to find the solution for simple processing all necessary steps for read-only consuming remote JSON data on iOS devices. It means fetching remote JSON data, store to local cache on iOS device for offline usage, refresh the cache, parsing JSON data. I think it is very common requirement for all mobile apps nowadays.

I know it is possible to manually download remote JSON file, store it to local db or file on iOS device and when network is not available fetch it from local storage otherwise dowload it from net. I do it manually now. :) But it is lot of steps which hope is possible to do by using frameworks/libraries, isn&#39;t?

So I tried HanekeSwift framework which do almost everything what I need but it only do caching remote JSON (and Images) but doesn&#39;t refresh the cache!! which is not useful for me. I know also that exists Alamofire and SwiftyJSON but I don&#39;t have any experience with them.

Do you have any experience how to do that?

- download remote JSON and store to local cache
- possibility to refresh local cache from it&#39;s origin

Synchronizing remote JSON data to local cache storage in iOS Swift

I&#39;m hitting an API that will occasionally throw a HTTP 403 error, and the response body can give some extra information in the form of json, however for the life of me I can&#39;t seem to get the information back out from the Alamofire response objects.  I see the information in developer tools if I hit the API via chrome.  Here&#39;s my code:

    Alamofire.request(mutableURLRequest).validate().responseJSON() {
        (response) in
        switch response.result {
            case .Success(let data):
                if let jsonResult = data as? NSDictionary {
                    completion(jsonResult, error: nil)
                } else if let jsonArray = data as? NSArray {

            case .Failure(let error):
                //error tells me 403
                //response.result.data can&#39;t be cast to NSDictionary or NSArray like
                //the successful cases, how do I get the response body?

I&#39;ve queried pretty much every object attached to the response, but it doesn&#39;t seem to give me the response body back in the case of HTTP errors.  Is there a work-around or something I&#39;m missing here?

I have migrated my project to Swift 3 (and updated Alamofire to latest Swift 3 version with `pod &#39;Alamofire&#39;, &#39;~&gt; 4.0&#39;` in the Podfile).

I now get an &quot;Extra argument in call&quot; error on every Alamofire.request.  Eg:

    let patientIdUrl = baseUrl + nextPatientIdUrl
    Alamofire.request(.POST, patientIdUrl, parameters: nil, headers: nil, encoding: .JSON)

Can anybody tell me why ?


Alamofire Swift 3.0 Extra argument in call

Getting error while calling Alamofire request method in the latest version(4.0.0). 

The syntax is: 

    Alamofire.request(urlString,method: .post, parameters: requestParams, encoding: .JSON, headers: [:])

the type of requestParam is [String:Any]

I&#39;m looking for a good pattern with which I can chain multiple HTTP requests. I want to use Swift, and preferrably [Alamofire][1].

Say, for example, I want to do the following:

1. Make a PUT request
2. Make a GET request
3. Reload table with data

It seems that the concept of [promises][2] may be a good fit for this. [PromiseKit][3] could be a good option if I could do something like this:

    NSURLConnection.promise(
        Alamofire.request(
            Router.Put(url: &quot;http://httbin.org/put&quot;)
        )
    ).then { (request, response, data, error) in
        Alamofire.request(
            Router.Get(url: &quot;http://httbin.org/get&quot;)
        )   
    }.then { (request, response, data, error) in
        // Process data
    }.then { () -&gt; () in
        // Reload table
    }

but that&#39;s not possible or at least I&#39;m not aware of it.

How can I achieve this functionality without nesting multiple methods?

I&#39;m new to iOS so maybe there&#39;s something more fundamental that I&#39;m missing. What I&#39;ve done in other frameworks such as Android is to perform these operations in a background process and make the requests synchronous. But [Alamofire is inherently asynchronous][4], so that pattern is not an option.

Chain multiple Alamofire requests

When I send a GET request twice with Alamofire I get the same response but I&#39;m expecting a different one. I was wondering if it was because of the cache, and if so I&#39;d like to know how to disable it.
