I have the default Route in Global.asax:

I understand why that is - the routes just define what URLs are valid, but when it comes to function matching, both `Get(int id)` and `ByCategoryId(int id)` match `api/{controller}/{id}`, which is what _confuses_ the framework.

What do I need to do to get the default API route to work again, and keep the one with `{action}`? I thought of creating a different controller named `RecordByCategoryIdController` to match the default API route, for which I would request `.../api/recordbycategoryid/5`. However, I find that to be a &quot;dirty&quot; (thus unsatisfactory) solution. I&#39;ve looked for answers on this and no tutorial out there on using a route with `{action}` even mentions this issue.

I want a custom error page shown for 500, 404 and 403. Here&#39;s what I have done:

1. Enabled custom errors in the web.config as follows:

2. Registered `HandleErrorAttribute` as a global action filter in the `FilterConfig` class as follows:

            filters.Add(new CustomHandleErrorAttribute());
            filters.Add(new AuthorizeAttribute());
        }

3. Created a custom error page for each of the above messages. The default one for 500 was already available out of the box.

4. Declared in each custom error page view that the model for the page is `System.Web.Mvc.HandleErrorInfo`

For 500, it shows the custom error page. For others, it doesn&#39;t.

Is there something I am missing?

It does look like this is not all there is to displaying custom errors as I read through the code in the `OnException` method of the `HandleErrorAttribute` class and it is handling only 500.

What do I have to do to handle other errors?

How to make custom error pages work in ASP.NET MVC 4

I am currently using a `DbContext` similar to this:

    namespace Models
    {
        public class ContextDB: DbContext

            public DbSet&lt;User&gt; Users { get; set; }
            public DbSet&lt;UserRole&gt; UserRoles { get; set; }
    
            public ContextDB()
            {
                
            }
        }
    }

I am then using the following line at the top of **ALL** my controllers that need access to the database. Im also using it in my UserRepository Class which contains all methods relating to the user (such as getting the active user, checking what roles he has, etc..):

    ContextDB _db = new ContextDB();

Thinking about this, there are occasions when one visitor can have multiple DbContexts active, for instance if it is visiting a controller that uses the UserRepository, which might not be the best of ideas.

When should I make a new DbContext? Alternatively, should I have one global context that is passed around and reused in all places? Would that cause a performance hit? Suggestions of alternative ways of doing this are also welcome.

When bundling/minification is enabled, some of my bundles seem to have an invalid URL in the browser (ending with a /), and IIS gives a 403 forbidden error, as if trying to list a folder&#39;s contents.

There&#39;s no difference in the way my bundles are set up - they are not .min.css, access permissions are correct etc.

In my Win 7 development machine, and in order to use SQL Express instance instead of the localDB installed by default. I unchecked &quot;Use IIS Express&quot; in my MVC 4 project properties page (Web tab), then I got the following error:

**ASP.NET 4.5 has not been registered on the Web server. You need to manually configure your Web server for ASP.NET 4.5 in order for your site to run correctly.**

I verified that ASP.NET is activated within the IIS features.

Please what could be done to resolve this?
