In the version of Visual Studio 2012 I am using (downloaded at the end of the Release Candidate phase), I can only access the Website Administration Tool in the Website menu in the menu bar at the top, under the command &#39;ASP.NET Configuration&#39;. The Website menu was only available if I selected the website or one of its content files or folders in Solution Explorer.

By contrast, if I selected the solution in Solution Explorer, the Project menu becomes visible instead of the Website menu, and the ASP.NET Configuration command is NOT available there.

Contact me for screenshots if desired. I have them, but as a newer user, they did not allow me to post them.


I have integrated my application with Facebook, and for this I am using Facebook&#39;s [Graph API][1]. I am retrieving profile and friends information. It is working fine on my device which has [Android&amp;nbsp;2.3][2] (Gingerbread), but recently my client has faced an issue while he is trying to connect to Facebook through my app. He has [Android&amp;nbsp;4.0][3] (Ice Cream Sandwich) on his device. When he clicks a button on the app that takes him to the Facebook login screen, after login he gets a message:

App is misconfigured for Facebook login: Android Facebook integration issue

I read a chapter and I didn&#39;t like it much. I&#39;m still unclear what the differences is between each memory order. This is my current speculation which I understood after reading the much more simple http://en.cppreference.com/w/cpp/atomic/memory_order

**The below is wrong so don&#39;t try to learn from it**

- memory_order_relaxed: Does not sync but is not ignored when order is done from another mode in a different atomic var
- memory_order_consume: Syncs reading this atomic variable however It doesnt sync relaxed vars written before this. However if the thread uses var X when modifying Y (and releases it). Other threads consuming Y will see X released as well? I don&#39;t know if this means this thread pushes out changes of x (and obviously y)
- memory_order_acquire: Syncs reading this atomic variable AND makes sure relaxed vars written before this are synced as well. (does this mean all atomic variables on all threads are synced?)
- memory_order_release: Pushes the atomic store to other threads (but only if they read the var with consume/acquire)
- memory_order_acq_rel: For read/write ops. Does an acquire so you don&#39;t modify an old value and releases the changes.
- memory_order_seq_cst: The same thing as acquire release except it forces the updates to be seen in other threads (if `a` store with relaxed on another thread. I store `b` with seq_cst. A 3rd thread reading `a`  with relax will see changes along with `b` and any other atomic variable?).

I think I understood but correct me if i am wrong. I couldn&#39;t find anything that explains it in easy to read english.

I was playing with Visual Studio 2012 and I created an **empty ASP.Net Web Application**, when I tried to add the _traditional validator controls_ to a new page, this error occurs:

ASP.Net 2012 Unobtrusive Validation with jQuery

What is the best way to return an image with 2 parameters (x and y for resize).

For example

    ~/api/image12345/200/200

Will return a 200 by 200 jpg/png/or gif

Should I return a `System.Drawing.Image` object or manually define the `HTTPReponseMessage.Content`? 

Is there a recommended way to return an image using ASP.NET Web API

Clearly I&#39;m missing something, I&#39;m unable to deploy a simple ASP.NET MVC 4, .NET 4.5 app on a Windows Small Business Server 2008 on IIS 7.

.NET framework 4.5 is installed.

Should I be supposed to see that version (4.5) on the Application Pool basic settings of the application? At this time, I only have 2.0 and 4.0, since 4.5 is like the 3.5 which only add on top of the 4.0 framework, I guess this is normal.

When I browse the home page, I got the following error:

403 - Forbidden: Access is denied.
You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.

When I request the only controller named Page /page/index I get the 404 not found page. Like the ASP.NET process never get the http request.

I can request a simple HTML page.

The Application Pool is set to .NET 4.0 and Integrated as the Managed pipeline mode.

NETWORK SERVICE has read/write access to the directory.

The app work flawlessly from VS2012 of course.

I&#39;m clueless on what&#39;s not right here, and search engine queries are not helping much.

Does anyone would have a hint, that would be extremely appreciated.

The dlls are already on the bin folder like System.Web.Mvc, System.Web.Razor etc.

I created a empty test.aspx page to make sure asp.net worker process was getting the request, and yes the page was OK. So it appears that the MVC routing is not working, though I have ASP.NET MVC 3 web app working fine on that server.

After the .NET 4.5 installation I did a aspnet_regiis -iru in case, that added an aspnet_client folder on the app, but still this does not fix the issue.

Anonymous Authentication is Enable on IIS Authentication section, and Authorization show allow for all users.

ASP.NET MVC 4 is installed, I just did a repair to make sure.

Eventhough the ASP.NET MVC 4 is installed, the 404 error from requesting the /page/index action is returned by the standard IIS and not the standard aspnet error. So indeed it appears like the MVC 4 framework is not properly installed, by I just double check and do a repair. Where can I continue to investigate?

@Mystere Man, I&#39;ve changed the Anonymous Authentication to use the Application Pool identity, stop, start the app and still the same error. It really look like if ASP.NET MVC 4 is not taking the request.

I&#39;ve re-pair Microsoft Framework .NET 4.5 and repair the ASP.NET MVC 4, re-deploy the simple ASP.NET MVC 4 app, and I still get the same behaviour. I&#39;m not sure what to do next, so I started a bounty in the hope that someone could help me find the problem.

When I asked that question, I flagged the runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests as the accepted answer because it did solve the problem. But I was certainly not going to use this in production. I ask why I had to do this and did not have any answers.

Than [Martin Hollingsworth][1] answer was really what I was looking for, a good way to fix this problem without all the performance issues related to the runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests.

We almost gave up and bought a new Windows 2012 server (from which the ASP.NET MVC app work as is). After trying Martin&#39;s solution, the Windows 2008 server worked.

MVC SelectList combining multiple columns in text field

When I load Visual Studio 2012 up, it will attempt to connect to the previous TFS server that it was connected to.

On one of my machines (that also happens to connect to occasionally TFS2008 and TFS2010 servers) always seems to default to completely the wrong account for connecting to Visual Studio Online (tfspreview), and if I were to try and get the latest version, it&#39;ll give an error of the form:

How can I change the default credentials used to connect to Visual Studio Online (TFSPreview) when loading Visual Studio up?

I&#39;m in the process of deciding whether or not to use Visual Studio 2012 Express for Desktop or purchase a retail copy of Visual Studio 2012 Professional for my desktop program.  The program is built using C# though portions of it may include F#.

From what I&#39;ve gathered so far, the express edition supports NuGet, Unit Testing, and Code Analysis.  It mentions a subset of Code Analysis rules are used but I&#39;m unsure how they compare to the professional edition as well as FxCop/StyleCop.

I&#39;m assuming the express edition lacks extension support but the only extension I really cared about was NuGet.  I also assume it doesn&#39;t include a TFS CAL despite having the ability to connect to TFS.  This again isn&#39;t an issue as I&#39;m using Perforce for source control.  I also understand that this version is limited to desktop style applications only, but have so far only seen mention C++ and C#. Does it support F#?

Can someone clue me in as to any other limitations of 2012 Express for Desktop?  Are there any license limitations for developing a commercial application?

In the past, MS included express editions as part of their version comparison.  But when they updated their site for 2012, they separated out the express editions and offer little to no detail.

Limitations of Visual Studio 2012 Express Desktop

I have a Copy of Visual Studio 2012 Pro on my machine with a Serial key that i&#39;m no longer suppose to use because i have to use another one. My problem is i keep Uninstalling Visual studio but the Registration information is still there after re-install and i cannot figure out which registry path i have to delete (i deleted a few) with no luck.

Is there a easy way to remove tha reg info or swap my keys?

Am I doing something wrong or is this an issue with VS2012? I am not attached to google test and am not opposed to using a different framework if it works better with VS, I had just heard very good things about gtest.

Google Test in Visual Studio 2012

I&#39;m at wit&#39;s end. Visual Studio is *typically* painfully slow to debug or just plain load (&quot;start without debugging&quot;) my ASP.NET MVC sites. Not always: at first, the projects will load nice and fast, but once they load slow, they&#39;ll always load slowly after that. I could be waiting 1-2 minutes or more.

**My setup:**

I&#39;m using [Visual Studio 2012 Express][1], currently, but I&#39;ve had the same problem in Visual Studio 2010 Express as well. My solution is stored on a network drive; specifically, it&#39;s My Documents redirected to a network drive, if it matters. (It shouldn&#39;t. There are times where my site loads very fast under this setup.)

I load in Internet&amp;nbsp; Explorer 9 usually, but the same problem happens in Firefox.

This can happen in any ASP.NET MVC project I work on, and it seems to revolve around having DisplayTemplates, which all my ASP.NET MVC projects do. And it&#39;s all C# and Razor if that mattered.

### Symptoms:

The system will load my symbols *hundreds* of times. Basically, the following, but there are at least 300 such rows, each with ever-so-slightly different DLL files for the same CSHTMLs:

In the above, I&#39;ve got three DisplayTemplates: &quot;Contact&quot;, &quot;Location&quot;, and &quot;StatusCode&quot;. It appears that IIS is loading symbols twice for each time the display template gets called. Thus, if I&#39;m displaying a table of 100 entries that call all three of these display templates, it&#39;s 600 separate symbols loaded.

This isn&#39;t a fast operation either. The log files that IIS generates take about 200&amp;nbsp; ms for each symbol to load. Thus, super-long delays.

**What I&#39;ve Tried:**

 - Debug or Release version, it doesn&#39;t matter.
 - Putting my project on a full IIS implementation on a web server runs it super fast with no problems.
 - Cassini, IIS&amp;nbsp; Express 7.5, and IIS&amp;nbsp; Express 8.0 all have the problem.
 - **Delete All Breakpoints does nothing.**
 - *Clean Solution*, or deleting the .suo also do nothing.
 - If I repair IIS&amp;nbsp; Express/ delete the `My Docs\IISExpress` folder, or repair/reinstall Visual Studio → the issue MAY go away, but only for a while before it comes right back.

Any advice at all is appreciated.

To answer more questions, yes my machine definitely has horsepower. The infuriating thing is that the same project, with NOTHING altered, can sometimes load very quickly, typically after I repair IIS&amp;nbsp; Express and delete the `My Docs\IISExpress` folder. Eventually, &quot;something&quot; happens and it&#39;s down to 2 minutes to load again. What I&#39;m working on is not a complicated project. No external libraries or dependencies and my VS.NET has no add-ons whatsoever.

Of note, this machine has Symantec Endpoint Protection, which has a history of causing havoc. But disabling it outright (it&#39;s good to be an administrator) did not fix the problem.

I have a theory at this point. I&#39;m thinking this is all because I&#39;m working off a redirected folder off a network share. It looks like Visual Studio is recompiling my display template **every time** it&#39;s called, which is again, hundreds of times. My theory is that Visual Studio compiles the file, saves it to the network share, then somehow stamps a new time on it, and Visual Studio then thinks the file has changed. Thus, Visual Studio recompiles it yet again. Only a theory though; I really have no clue.

For one, apparently, I have offline files (this is a desktop computer in an office; I couldn&#39;t care less). I&#39;m going to disable, reboot, and retry tomorrow.

Plus, moving my project, as is, to the local C: fixes it. It loads very quickly. But this is not ideal in a work environment. I lose Previous Versions, my code isn&#39;t backed up at all unless I manually copy it, and it&#39;s no longer shared with anyone.

I can make do with copying it back and forth from C to the network share if it comes to it. It&#39;s much more annoying to wait two minutes for every page to load.
