SQL Server Express does not come with profiler, but you can use [SQL Server 2005/2008 Express Profiler][1] instead.

first get the profiler Exe from: [http://expressprofiler.codeplex.com][1]

then you can add it simply to the Management studio:

Tools -&gt; External tools... -&gt; 

   a- locate the exe file on your disk (If installed, it&#39;s typically C:\Program Files (x86)\ExpressProfiler\ExpressProfiler.exe)

   b- give it a name e.g. Express Profiler

that&#39;s it :)
you have your Profiler with your sql express edition

Also ensure that &quot;client tools&quot; are selected in the install options. However if SQL Managment Studio 2008 exists then it is likely that you installed the express edition.

The MSDN article on [String Basics][1] shows this:

Why doesn&#39;t concatenating with null throw a null reference exception?  Is it to make a programmer&#39;s life easier, such that they don&#39;t have to check for null before concatenation?

Why is adding null to a string legal?

I&#39;ve used [ClickOnce][1] a lot over the years, but I have run up against a lot of its limitations. What alternatives are there for web deployment?

So far the only one I&#39;ve been able to turn up is [ClickThrough][2], which is part of [WiX][3] now on the back burner. Are there others that have had success?

I have a table like this:

    rowInt  Value
    2       23
    3       45
    17      10
    9       0
    ....

The column rowInt values are integer but not in a sequence with same increament. I can use the following sql to list values by rowInt:

    SELECT * FROM myTable ORDER BY rowInt;

This will list values by rowInt. How can get get the difference of Value between two rows with the result like this:

    rowInt   Value Diff
    2        23    22    --45-23
    3        45    -35   --10-45
    9        0     -45   --0-45
    17       10    10    -- 10-0
    ....

The table is in SQL 2005 (Miscrosoft)

I need to write a T-SQL stored procedure that updates a row in a table. If the row doesn&#39;t exist, insert it. All this steps wrapped by a transaction. 

This is for a booking system, so it must be **atomic and reliable**. It must return true if the transaction was committed and the flight booked.

I&#39;m **new to T-SQL**, and not sure on how to use `@@rowcount`. This is what I&#39;ve written until now. Am I on the right road? I&#39;m sure is an easy problem for you.

Trying to understand what Sql Profiler means by emitting &quot;sp_reset_connection&quot;.

I have the following, &quot;exec sp_reset_connection&quot; line followed by BatchStarting and Completed,

Basically does first line &quot;exec sp_reset_connection&quot; mean the whole process (my connection was opened, the select stmt is run, then the connection is closed and released back to pool) just take place?  Or my connection is still in open stage.

And, why does the sp_reset_connection executed before my own select statement, shouldn&#39;t it the reset come after user&#39;s sql?

I&#39;m trying to know is there a way to know in more detail when a connection is opened and closed?

Open a new query window.  Write some SQL.  Save the script, the Save File As
dialog box opens - but always to the same default location in the Profiles
directory.  Is there any way to set my default file location?  ...Like I used
to do with apps from the 1980s?

Under Tools|Options a default location can be specified for query results.
I need the same thing for new queries (the text editor).  Tried changing
locations in the Registry but SSMS just overwrote my changes.  Any
suggestions?

I&#39;m running a data import (using C#/Linq), and naturally I&#39;m trying to optimize my queries as much as possible.  To this end I&#39;m running a trace on the DB using SQL Server Profiler, with my trace filtered by my SQL login name (it&#39;s a name that can uniquely be attributed to my data import process).

Strangely enough, most of my SQL statements are really quick :) - very few queries even break over the 1ms mark.  But spaced in between all my queries are several rows where the EventClass is &quot;Audit Login&quot; or &quot;Audit Logout&quot; - and the duration of an &quot;Audit Logout&quot; can be up to a minute!

Has this got something to do with the fact that I&#39;m using transactions in my import?  If so, is there any way to find which are the big-hitting queries so I can clean those up?

Is there a good profiler for javascript? I know that firebug has some support for profiling code. But I want to determine stats on a longer scale. 
Imagine you are building a lot of javascript code and you want to determine what are actually the bottlenecks in the code. At first I want to see profile stats of every javascript function and execution time. Next would be including DOM functions. This combined with actions that slows things down like operation on the rendering tree would be perfect. I think this would give a good impression if the performance is killed in my code, in DOM preparation or in updates to the rendering tree/visual.

Is there something close to what I want? Or what would be the best tool to achieve the most of what I&#39;ve described? Would it be a self compiled browser plus javascript engine enhanced by profile functionality?
