The Java equivalent of [PHP][1] and [&quot;Classic&quot; ASP][2] would be [JSP (JavaServer Pages)][3] with *scriptlets* (embedded raw Java code). *Scriptlets* are considered [poor practice][4] in Java web development world. Taglibs and EL (Expression Language) should be preferred above *scriptlets*. The Java equivalent of [ASP.NET][5] [(MVC)][6] would be a Java MVC framework. There are a lot of Java-based MVC frameworks out, mostly providing a Servlet/Filter-based controller and taglibs to interact with the model (usually a [Javabean][7]) and the view (usually a JSP page, but XHTML is also possible).

To start, the [Java EE API][8] provides [JSF (JavaServer Faces)][9] for this, which in turn comes along with XHTML based templated view technology known as [Facelets][10]. Facelets is seen as a replacement of the good old JSP. Further, there are a lot of open source Java MVC frameworks which are built on top of the JSP/[Servlet API][11] and which are intended as an *alternative/competition* to JSF. You can find little information of all of them [here][12], the popular ones being [Spring MVC][13], [Struts2][14] and [Stripes][15].

As to which one to choose, I suggest having a look at [this answer][16] which I strongly agree.

The best is not necessarily the same as the most mainstream.  I think the most direct equivalent (thanks to its standards track nature) is JSF 2.0 &amp; Facelets.

Having said that, there are reasons that the other frameworks exist... it&#39;s best to evaluate several and determine which one fits your team&#39;s style of development best.

I&#39;m developing an API with many identically named methods that just differ by signature, which I guess is fairly common. They all do the same thing, except that they initialize various values by defaults if the user does not want to specify. As a digestible example, consider

The essential action performed by all of these methods is the same; a tree is planted in the forest. Many important things users of my API need to know about adding trees hold for all these methods.

Ideally, I would like to write one Javadoc block that is used by all methods:

       * up to 30 years for the tree to be fully grown.
       *
       * @param amountOfLeaves desired amount of leaves. Actual amount of
       * leaves at maturity may differ by up to 10%.

In my imagination, a tool could magically choose which of the @params apply to each of the methods, and thus generate good docs for all methods at once.

With Javadoc, if I understand it correctly, all I can do is essentially copy&amp;paste the same javadoc block five times, with only a slightly differing parameter list for each method. This sounds cumbersome to me, and is also difficult to maintain.

Is there any way around that? Some extension to javadoc that has this kind of support? Or is there a good reason why this is not supported that I missed?

I&#39;m writing a web app for the iPad (**not a regular App Store app** - it&#39;s written using HTML, CSS and JavaScript). Since the keyboard fills up a huge part of the screen, it would make sense to change the app&#39;s layout to fit the remaining space when the keyboard is shown. However, I have found no way to detect when or whether the keyboard is shown.

My first idea was to assume that the keyboard is visible when a text field has focus. However, when an external keyboard is attached to an iPad, the virtual keyboard does not show up when a text field receives focus.

In my experiments, the keyboard also did not affect the height or scrollheight of any of the DOM elements, and I have found no proprietary events or properties which indicate whether the keyboard is visible.

Some times whenever I restart the application, which is built on

Mysql and Jboss 4.05 Version
I get the error as **Address already in use: JVM_Bind**

Only fix that i know is to restart the machine and try again, it will work.
Else Some times I do Ctrl-Alt-Del and Stop all the process related to Java, some times this also works.

But what is the exact reason and how can we prevent this problem ?

**My Application:**

I have an ASP.NET Web Application, which references a class library that uses LINQ-to-SQL. Connection string set up properly in the class library. The connection string uses SQL credentials as so (in both web app and class library):

This connection confirmed as working via adding it to Server Explorer. This is the connection string my .dbml file is using.

**The problem:**

I get the following error:

    System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Login failed for user &#39;DOMAIN\MACHINENAME$&#39;.

Now referencing this https://stackoverflow.com/questions/1269706/the-error-login-failed-for-user-nt-authority-iusr-in-asp-net-and-sql-server-2 it says that&#39;s really the local network service and using any other non-domain name will not work. 

But I am confused because I&#39;ve checked both SQL Box and SQL Test Box SQL Management Studio and both have `NT AUTHORITY/NETWORK SERVICE` under Security -&gt; Logins, at the database level, that isn&#39;t listed under Security -&gt; Users, but at the database level Security -&gt; Users I have the user displayed in the connection string.

At NTFS level on web server, the permissions have NETWORK SERVICE has full control.

The reason why I am confused is because I have many other web applications on my Web Server, that reference databases on both SQL Box and SQL Test Box, and they all work. But I cannot find a difference between them and my current application, other than I am using a class library. Will that matter? Checking NTFS permissions, setup of Security Logins at the server and databases levels, connection string and method of connecting (SQL Server credentials), and IIS application pool and other folder options, are all the same.

Why do these applications work without adding the machinename$ to the permissions of either of my SQL boxes? But that is what the one link is telling me to do to fix this problem.

I&#39;ve written a webapp that has a manifest that includes all the javascript and images that it requires. Unfortunately, even when I change the manifest file, it doesn&#39;t seem to reload the javascript. 

Is there a way to delete the webapp completely from Chrome? Clearing the browser cache doesn&#39;t seem to work.

I&#39;m running Chrome 5.0.375.55 on a Mac.
