The URL generated by this code include the port number and I think that is happening because port 80 is used by the website and in this code I am trying to load a page from a virtual directory of the website. Any ideas on how to suppress the port number in the URL string generated by this code?

I need an accurate timer, and DateTime.Now seems not accurate enough. From the descriptions I read, System.Diagnostics.Stopwatch seems to be exactly what I want. 

But I have a phobia. I&#39;m nervous about using anything from System.Diagnostics in actual production code. (I use it extensively for debugging with Asserts and PrintLns etc, but never yet for production stuff.) I&#39;m not merely trying to use a timer to benchmark my functions - my app needs an actual timer. I&#39;ve read on another forum that System.Diagnostics.StopWatch is only for benchmarking, and shouldn&#39;t be used in retail code, though there was no reason given. Is this correct, or am I (and whoever posted that advice) being too closed minded about System.Diagnostics? ie, is it ok to use System.Diagnostics.Stopwatch in production code?

I use my .vimrc file on my laptop (OS X) and several servers (Solaris &amp; Linux), and could hypothetically someday use it on a Windows box.  I know how to detect unix generally, and windows, but how do I detect OS X?    (And for that matter, is there a way to distinguish between Linux and Solaris, etc.  And is there a list somewhere of all the strings that &#39;has&#39; can take?  My [Google-fu][1] turned up nothing.)

For instance, I&#39;d use something like this:

The answer below (&quot;macunix&quot;) seems fairly clearly like it *should* work, but for some reason it doesn&#39;t.  (Perhaps Apple didn&#39;t compile vim properly to respond to this? Seems unlikely.)

At any rate I guess I need to shift the focus of the question: does anyone have a solution that will achieve the same ends?  (That is, successfully detecting that the .vimrc file is being used on Mac OS X.)

how do I detect OS X in my .vimrc file, so certain configurations will only apply to OS X?

I have a multi threaded c++ application that runs on Windows, Mac and a few Linux flavors. 

To make a long story short: In order for it to run at maximum efficiency, I have to be able to instantiate a single thread per physical processor/core. Creating more threads than there are physical processors/cores degrades the performance of my program considerably. I can already correctly detect the number of logical processors/cores correctly on all three of these platforms. To be able to detect the number of physical processors/cores correctly I&#39;ll have to detect if hyper-treading is supported AND active. 

My question therefore is if there is a way to detect whether Hyper Threading is supported **and enabled**? If so, how exactly.

I&#39;m looking for the best way to change the `backgroundColor` of an `NSView`.  I&#39;d also like to be able to set the appropriate `alpha` mask for the `NSView`.  Something like:

I&#39;m running an open source java project that consists of multiple modules in a tree of dependencies. All those modules are subdirectories in a subversion repository. For newcomers to our project, it&#39;s a lot of work to set all that up manually in eclipse. 

Not all our developers use eclipse. Nevertheless, we&#39;re considering to just check in the .classpath and .project files to help newcomers to get started. Is this a good idea? Or would that lead to constant conflicts in those files? Is there an alternative way to make the project easy to set up on eclipse?
