**Calling C function from C++:**

If my application was in C++ and I had to call functions from a library written in C. Then I would have used 

    //main.cpp
    
    extern &quot;C&quot; void C_library_function(int x, int y);//prototype
    C_library_function(2,4);// directly using it.

This wouldn&#39;t mangle the name `C_library_function` and linker would find the same name in its input *.lib files and problem is solved.

**Calling C++ function from C???**

But here I&#39;m extending a large application which is written in C and I need to use a library which is written in C++. Name mangling of C++ is causing trouble here. Linker is complaining about the unresolved symbols. Well I cannot use C++ compiler over my C project because thats breaking lot of other stuff. What is the way out?

I&#39;ve got a form that can optionally be pre-populated via facebook connect.  Once a user connects, their name and email are automatically filled in.  The problem is that this doesn&#39;t trigger the remote validation to check if the email already exists. 

Is there a way I could call the validation on that field alone?  Something like:

`$(&#39;#email-field-only&#39;).validate()`

would be idea.  Searched through the docs with no luck.

I am testing out using the new web packaging functionality in visual studio 2010 and came across a situation where I use a pre-build event to copy required .dll&#39;s into my bin folder that my app relies on for API calls. They cannot be included as a reference since they are not COM dlls that can be used with interop. 

When I build my deployment package those files are excluded when I choose the option to only include the files required to run the app. Is there a way to configure the deployment settings to include these files? I have had no luck finding any good documentation on this.

How do you include additional files using VS2010 web deployment packages?

What are your recommended extensions for Visual Studio 2010?

I have a very similar problem as described [here][1].

I also upgraded a mixed solution of C++/CLI and C# projects from Visual&amp;nbsp;Studio&amp;nbsp;2008 to Visual&amp;nbsp;Studio&amp;nbsp;2010. And now in Visual&amp;nbsp;Studio&amp;nbsp;2010 one C++/CLI project always runs out of date.

Even if it has been compiled and linked just before and &lt;kbd&gt;F5&lt;/kbd&gt; is hit, the messagebox &quot;The project is out of date. Would you like to build it?&quot; appears. This is very annoying because the DLL file is very low-tiered and forces almost all projects of the solution to rebuild.

My pdb settings are set to the default value ([suggested solution of this problem][1]).

Is it possible the get the reason why Visual&amp;nbsp;Studio&amp;nbsp;2010 forces a rebuild or thinks a project is up to date?

Any other ideas why Visual&amp;nbsp;Studio&amp;nbsp;2010 behaves like that?

Note: I&#39;m running WCF service unders ASP.NET. i.e. I&#39;ve added WCF Service project to solution by Add New Website and then selecting WCF Service template. I&#39;m currently running it from within IDE. Hosting it on IIS also didn&#39;t helped though.

The values are being correctly encoded, but the json itself is not properly formatted. These \&#39;s cause it to go out of wack.

**Background:**

I am creating a webservices site which will provide many types of simple services over SOAP and possibly other protocols too. The goal is to make it easy to do for example conversions, RSS parsing, spam checks and many other types of work. The site will be targeted mostly at beginner developers.

**My Problem:**

I have never developed any C#, or .NET for that matter. I did hack some VB6 many years ago but that&#39;s it. Now I need some **examples of doing RPC calls over SOAP in C#**. I have tried to search the web, and Stack Overflow, to find this but didn&#39;t find many resources, and I have no idea how to rank the resources (which are old? which are incorrect? etc).

I have created a simple example service, which is called like this in PHP:

I now want to call this method as easily as possible in C#. All references and examples are very welcome. Where do I begin? Which classes/modules/whatever can I utilize?

The solution does not have to involve SOAP at all if there are better communication frameworks (the back end is meant to be extensible), but note that the server side is implemented in PHP on Unix so proprietary solutions from Microsoft are out of the question on the server side.

Note that I need this so I can write documentation possible for J. Random Web Developer to follow (even if they are on shared web hosting). I therefore think the best approach should be to do this in code only, but even other ways of doing this are of course welcome.
