I&#39;m making a form. And on one `input` tag is an `OnClick` event handler, which is opening a popup, where you can choose some stuff, and then it autofills the `input` tag.

That input tag is also `readonly`, so only right data will be entered.

I am trying to replace my old fire-and-forget calls with a new syntax, hoping for more simplicity and it seems to be eluding me. Here&#39;s an example

Both approaches do the same thing, however what I seem to have gained (no need to `EndInvoke` and close handle, which is imho still a bit debatable) I am losing in the new way by having to await a `Task.Yield()`, which actually poses a new problem of having to rewrite all existing async F&amp;F methods just to add that one-liner. Are there some invisible gains in terms of performance/cleanup?

How would I go about applying async if I can&#39;t modify the background method? Seems to me that there is no direct way, I would have to create a wrapper async method that would await Task.Run()?  

Edit: I now see I might be missing a real questions. The question is: Given a synchronous method A(), how can I call it asynchronously using `async`/`await` in a fire-and-forget manner without getting a solution that is more complicated than the &quot;old way&quot;

I need to iterate the columnname and column datatype from a specific row. All of the examples I have seen have iterated an entire datatable. I want to pass a single row to a function to do a bunch of conditional processing. I want to separate the conditional processing for ease of readability.

This is what I have:

The following code has a static method, `Foo()`, calling an instance method, `Bar()`:

It compiles without error* but generates a runtime binder exception at runtime. Removing the dynamic parameter to these methods causes a compiler error, as expected.

So why does having a dynamic parameter allow the code to be compiled? ReSharper doesn&#39;t show it as an error either.

**Edit 2:** added `sealed` since it&#39;s possible that a subclass could contain a static `Bar(...)` method. Even the sealed version compiles when it&#39;s not possible that any method other than the instance method could be called at runtime.

I have a set of sensors that loggs data to a web server that provides a REST api. I would like to introduce some sort of authentication/authorization by letting the sensors include their hardware id in the data and then make a lookup in a database to see if the id exists or not. Since the API provides many web api action methods I would ideally like to use a custom authorization attribute

After installing **Visual Studio 2012** and opening my solution I get a series of errors in this form:


&gt; The Web Application Project Foo is configured to use **IIS**.  
&gt; Unable to access the **IIS Metabase**. You do not have sufficient privilege to access **IIS** web sites on your machine.

I get this for each of our web applications.

Things I have tried:

 1. Running Visual Studio as Administrator 
 2. Running aspnet_regiis.exe -ga MyUserName 
 3. Running aspnet_regiis.exe -i

These seem to be common solutions for this problem but I have not had any success with them.

Error - Unable to access the IIS metabase

I am using a Windows Forms Application to monitor a directory and move the files dropped in it to another directory.

At the moment it will copy the file to another directory, but when another file is added it will just end with no error message. Sometimes it does copy two files before ending on the third.

Is this because I am using a Windows Form Application rather than a console app? Is there a way I can stop the program from ending and to keep watching the directory?
