 1. Go to the solution explorer of your source code. Right click on the **project name** and go the **properties**.
 2. go to the **Build** tab if you are using c# and select the check box **Xml documentation file**.
 3. When you build your source code the Xml file will be generated in the location where your dll is present.
 4. while copy your dll to the solution copy the xml file and paste into the bin of your destination solution.



You need to generate XML documentation for the assembly (a file named myassembly.xml) and copy it alongside your .dll where it&#39;s referenced by your other projects. See [this page in MSDN][1] for instructions.

When you compile  classes that have xml comment,
normally a .xml file is created. (check the options in Visual Studio)

When you add a reference to such an assembly, make sure the XML file is present.
The documentation is not contained within the assembly but within the xml file.

How do I compare values of generic types?

I have reduced it to a minimal sample:

    public class Foo&lt;T&gt; where T : IComparable
    {
        private T _minimumValue = default(T);

        public bool IsInRange(T value) 
        {
            return (value &gt;= _minimumValue); // &lt;-- Error here
        }
    }

The error is:

&gt;Operator &#39;&gt;=&#39; cannot be applied to operands of type &#39;T&#39; and &#39;T&#39;.

What on earth!? `T` is already constrained to `IComparable`, and even when constraining it to value types (`where T: struct`), we still can&#39;t apply any of the operators `&lt;`, `&gt;`, `&lt;=`, `&gt;=`, `==` or `!=`. (I know that workarounds involving `Equals()` exist for `==` and `!=`, but it doesn&#39;t help for the relational operators).

So, two questions:

 1. **Why** do we observe this weird behaviour? What keeps us from comparing the values of generic types which are *known* to be `IComparable`? Doesn&#39;t it somehow defeat the entire purpose of generic constraints?
 2. How do I resolve this, or at least work around it?

(I realize there are already a handful of questions related to this seemingly simple problem - but none of the threads gives an exhaustive or workable answer, so here.)

How to compare values of generic types?

I know it has 3 methods. In my program I have a method to send a message. It is often late and the program sometimes doesn&#39;t send the message at all in response to a button press. At times it is as late as 5 seconds from what I would expect and the program freezes. I want to use a `BackgroundWorker` to send the message as expected and allow the program to run normally at all times. I had the code for sending the message in a button handler. Now where do I put this equivalent code? I would like all of this to still be handled by a button press.

Is this the appropriate handler?
   

    backgroundWorker1.RunWorkerAsync();


and in: 

    private void backgroundWorker1_DoWork(object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e) {}

I&#39;m going to put my code in the button handler?
And this before:

    carga.progressBar1.Minimum = 0;
    carga.progressBar1.Maximum = 100;

Carga is my other form where the ProgressBar is. How do I use a BackgroundWorker in this scenario?

I often need to generate lists of numbers. The intervals can have quite a lot of numbers. I have a method like this:

Now say I have a collection of these rules:

Now I have an instance of a user also:

    User user = db.GetUser(....);


How would I loop through these rules, and apply the logic and perform the comparisons etc?

    if(user.age &gt; 15)

    if(user.username == &quot;some_name&quot;)


Since the object&#39;s property like &#39;age&#39; or &#39;user_name&#39; is stored in the table, along with the comparison operater &#39;great_than&#39; and &#39;equal&#39;, how could I possible do this?

C# is a statically typed language, so not sure how to go forward.

How to create ///summary

I am using Visual Studio 2010. I have read that in C++ it is better to use `&lt;cmath&gt;` rather than `&lt;math.h&gt;`. 

But in the program I am trying to write (Win32 console application, empty project) if I write:

    #define _USE_MATH_DEFINES
    #include &lt;math.h&gt;

it compiles, while if I write

    #define _USE_MATH_DEFINES
    #include &lt;cmath&gt;

it fails with 

&gt; error C2065: &#39;M_PI&#39; : undeclared identifier

Is it normal? Does it matter if I use cmath or math.h? If yes, how can I make it work with cmath?

**UPDATE**: if I define _USE_MATH_DEFINES in the GUI, it works. Any clue why this is happening?

Interestingly, the good &#39;ol &lt; br/ &gt; line break does not create a line break in the Intellisense popup.

I find this annoying...

Which C# XML documentation comment tag is used for the literals `true`, `false` and `null`?

In Microsoft&#39;s own documentation, these literals appear in **bold text**. For example, the documentation for the property [ArrayList.IsFixedSize][1] appears as:

&gt; **true** if the [ArrayList][2] has a fixed size; otherwise, **false**. The default is **false**.

None of [Microsoft&#39;s Recommended Tags][3] seem to apply to this situation. The best fit appears to be [&amp;lt;c&amp;gt;][4], however `&lt;c&gt;true&lt;/c&gt;` appears as `true` when the documentation is rendered by [Doxygen][5].

However, using `&lt;b&gt;true&lt;/b&gt;` with Doxygen yielded bold text as I surmised that it might. But that leaves me wondering about **the portability of using standard HTML tags** with other documentation generation tools such as [Sandcastle][6] and [GhostDoc][7].

The [documentation](http://www.asp.net/web-api/overview/creating-web-apis/creating-api-help-pages) for enabling XmlDoc integration into your Web Api projects appears to only handle situations where all of your API types are part of your WebApi project.  In particular, it discusses how to reroute the XML documentation to `App_Data/XmlDocument.xml` and uncommenting a line in your config that will consume that file.  This implicitly only allows for one project&#39;s documentation file.  

However, in my setup I have my request and response types defined in a common &quot;Models&quot; project.  This means that if I have an endpoint defined such as:

    [Route(&quot;auth/openid/login&quot;)]
    public async Task&lt;AuthenticationResponse&gt; Login(OpenIdLoginRequest request) { ... }

Where `OpenIdLoginRequest` is defined in a separate C# project like so:

    public class OpenIdLoginRequest

        /// Represents the OpenId provider that authenticated the user. (i.e. Facebook, Google, etc.)
        /// &lt;/summary&gt;

Despite the XML doccomments, the properties of the `request` parameter contain no documentation when you view the endpoint-specific help page (i.e. `http://localhost/Help/Api/POST-auth-openid-login`).  

How can I make it so that types in subprojects with XML documentation are surfaced in the Web API XML documentation?
