You were on the right track. IrfanView sets the background for transparency the same as the viewing color around the image. 

You just need to re-open the image with IrfanView after changing the view color to white.

To change the viewing color in Irfanview go to:

    Options &gt; Properties/Settings &gt; Viewing &gt; Main window color

I have 6 ImageButton in my activity, I set images through my code in them ( not using xml).

I want them to cover 75% of the button area. But where as some images cover less area, some are too big to fit into the imageButton. How to programatically resize and show them?

I know that it is impossible to actually modify an image with CSS, which is why I put crop in quotes. 

What I&#39;d like to do is take rectangular images and use CSS to make them appear square without distorting the image at all.

How to &quot;crop&quot; a rectangular image into a square with CSS?

I have some photos which have big sizes, I would like to set them to the Parent&#39;s dimension size. If one time the parent dimension is 1200x800, I would like to set the photo dimensions to 1200x800, but also I would like to see the **whole** image. If my parent dimension is 500x300, I would like the image to be 500x300 and so on.

Is this even possible? I want to shrink the image or expand it according to it&#39;s parent&#39;s dimension.

How to add image in a TextView text?

I&#39;m working on implementing a widget transparency option for my app widget although I&#39;m having some trouble getting the hex color values right. Being completely new to hex color transparency I searched around a bit although I couldn&#39;t find a specific answer to my question. 

I want to set transparency by hex color so let&#39;s say my hex color id &quot;#33b5e5&quot; and I want it to be 50% transparent. Then I&#39;ll use &quot;#8033b5e5&quot; because 80 is 50%. 

I found a useful chart here: http://www.dtp-aus.com/hexadeci.htm . With this data I managed to come up with this:

    0% = #00
    10% = #16
    20% = #32
    30% = #48
    40% = #64
    50% = #80
    60% = #96
    70% = #112
    80% = #128
    90% = #144

Now the issues start appearing when I get higher than 100 in hex. Hex color codes can only be 8 symbols long right? For example #11233b5e5 (80%) crashes.

What can I do to enable me to use the higher numbers aswell?

Hex transparency in colors

I am using matplotlib to make some graphs and unfortunately I cannot export them without the white background.

In other words, when I export a plot like this and position it on top of another image, the white background hides what is behind it rather than allowing it to show through. How can I export plots with a transparent background instead?

I&#39;m trying to replicate this blurred background from Apple&#39;s publicly released iOS 7 example screen:

[This question][2] suggests applying a CI filter to the contents below, but that&#39;s a whole different approach. It&#39;s obvious that iOS 7 doesn&#39;t capture the contents of the views below, for many reasons:

1. Doing some rough testing, capturing a screenshot of the views below and applying a CIGaussianBlur filter with a large enough radius to mimic iOS 7&#39;s blur style takes 1-2 seconds, even on a simulator.
2. The iOS 7 blur view is able to blur over dynamic views, such as a video or animations, with no noticeable lag.

Can anyone hypothesize what frameworks they could be using to create this effect, and if it&#39;s possible to create a similar effect with current public APIs?

**Edit:** (from comment) We don&#39;t exactly know how Apple is doing it, but are there any basic assumptions we can make? We can assume they are using hardware, right? 

Is the effect self-contained in each view, such that the effect doesn&#39;t actually know what&#39;s behind it? Or must, based on how blurs work, the contents behind the blur be taken into consideration? 

If the contents behind the effect are relevant, can we assume that Apple is receiving a &quot;feed&quot; of the contents below and continuously rendering them with a blur?

How can I produce an effect similar to the iOS 7 blur view?

I want the UINavigationBar in my app to be completely transparent and flush with the viewcontroller directly under it. However, the only code I could find makes it translucent but not transparent. I know this can be done in iOS 7 because it is used in the notes app. My question is, what is the code they used to do it?

Using ggplot2&#39;s stat_smooth(), I&#39;m curious how one might adjust the transparency of the generated regression line. Using geom_points() or geom_line(), one normally sets a value for &#39;alpha&#39;, indicating the percent transparency. However, with stat_smooth(), alpha sets the transparency of the confidence interval (in my sample below, turned off - se=FALSE).

I cannot seem to find a way to make the regression line(s) a lower transparency than 1. 

Your advice would be wonderful.

Adjust Transparency (alpha) of stat_smooth lines, not just transparency of Confidence Interval

The code work, but I&#39;m having a problem setting transparent background to the canvas with three.js. I use:

    Background.renderer.setClearColor(0xffffff, 0);

But then the background gets black. How do I change it to be transparent?

So at the beginning I have `ImageView` with alpha `0.2` and at the end I want to have `ImageView` with alpha `1`. But it doesn&#39;t work like that - when animation starts more alpha is added and animation finish with alpha `0.2`

What do I have to change to animate my image from `0.2` up to `1`?

Android Animation Alpha

I&#39;m wondering if it is possible to have individual alpha values for each point to be plotted using the `scatter` function of Matplotlib. I need to plot a set of points, each one with its alpha value. 

For example, I have this code to plot some points

I can loop and plot point by point with each specific alpha value, but this doesn&#39;t seem like a good approach.
