In your command `s/\/fonts/../fonts/` is being taken as the parameter to the `-i` option (the suffix to use for the backup file), and the filename argument is being treated as the editing commands.

You need to specify to disable the backup file creation:

    sed -i &#39;&#39; ...

In your example:

    sed -i &#39;&#39; &#39;s/\/fonts/../fonts/&#39; /Users/sergeybasharov/WebstormProjects/snap/compiled/Content/stylesheets/style.css


Computers are dumb, they don&#39;t figure things out by context, so they can&#39;t tell that something beginning with `s/` is _obviously_ an editing command, not a suffix.


`sed -i &#39;s/\/fonts/../fonts/&#39;` is not a valid sed command, try `sed -i &#39;s#/fonts#../fonts#&#39;`

I was having a similar issue. You can install the GNU version of sed in your Mac, called gsed, and use it using the standard Linux syntax.

For that, install gsed using ports (if you don&#39;t have it, get it at http://www.macports.org/) by running sudo port install gsed. Then, you can run gsed -i &#39;s/old_pattern/new_pattern/g&#39; *

I&#39;m trying to inject the Path dependency as you can see. Although i get an error saying it can&#39;t find this provider. I think this is because config module providers are executed first before anything else. below is my Path provider definition in &quot;services.js&quot;

I&#39;m attempting to install Jekyll. After running `gem install jekyll` I get this error:

I have created a new user &#39;dad&#39; on my macbook pro (OSX 10.8.4). &#39;dad&#39; is an administrator. I&#39;ve successfully installed homebrew as &#39;dad&#39;. It was previously installed by another user. I did:

    sudo chown -R dad /usr/local/
    cd /usr/local/
    chmod -R 777 *

But any attempt to install, e.g:

    brew install nmap

Gives:

    Error: Permission denied - /Library/Caches/Homebrew/Formula/nmap.brewing

It seems nmap.brewing doesn&#39;t exist:

    dad$ ls -l /usr/local/Library/Caches/Homebrew/Formula/nmap.brewing

I recently downloaded Android Studio on my Macbook Pro and I messed up with it every time I open it. It gives me plugin errors and several other errors. I need to uninstall it completely from my mac. I tried to delete it from my mac and then install it again as if you would do the first time, but it did nothing and now the same problems occur.

I&#39;m using `cmd.exe` (C:\\WINDOWS\System32\cmd.exe) and I have to change my current directory to &quot;D:\temp&quot; i.e. temp folder in the D drive.

When I try to `cd` nothing happens.

    C:\&gt; cd D:\temp
    
    C:\&gt;

I don&#39;t know what else to do here. Even pressing `tab` key does not give any hints. I have never got the reason to use cmd.exe until now when I have to. I mostly use Linux for development.

If this helps: I&#39;m on a remote login to another computer and `D:\temp` in on the remote machine, but so is `C:\` where I have opened the terminal (cmd.exe).

In linux I could find the mysql installation directory with the command `which mysql`. But I could not find any in windows. I tried `echo %path%` and it resulted many paths along with path to mysql bin. 

I wanted to find the mysql data directory from command line in windows for use in batch program. I would also like to find mysql data directory from linux command line. Is it possible? or how can we do that?

In my case, the mysql data directory is on the installation folder i.e. `..MYSQL\mysql server 5\data` It might be installed on any drive however. I want to get it returned from the command line.
