Since this is still the top question when searching Google, and since the accepted answer does not work properly in production (at least in some cases), here is the solution that works for me (Rails 4.x to 6.x at least):

        Rails.application.assets_manifest.assets[path].present?
      end

I was trying to make the syntax highlighting (with 256 colors) of ```vim``` work inside ```screen```, which is running inside ```gterm```.

It works quite fine in the beginning. What I mean by &quot;in the beginning&quot; is, after I start ```screen```, and enter ```vim```, the colors look fine, and there are really 256 colors.

But after a while (I don&#39;t know exactly how long) the colors automatically change back to an appearance as if there are only 8 (or 16?) colors.

For example, after this has already occurred, if I enter the command

    hi Comment ctermfg=68

inside ```vim```, the comments appear to be &quot;pure&quot; green; however, if I open another ```vim``` outside screen (in the same terminal), then with the same command the comments appear to be a &quot;yellowish&quot; green.

The following is my .screenrc settings related to color:

    attrcolor b &quot;.I&quot;
    defbce &quot;on&quot;
    termcapinfo xterm &#39;Co#256:AB=\E[48;5;%dm:AF=\E[38;5;%dm&#39;

After running a python script to display all the colors, I find out that maybe this is a problem of screen itself, and has nothing to do with vim.

What I did is, inside the ```screen``` session with problems, this script gives 256 colors, but many of them are actually the same; however, when I start a new screen session with the same configuration, this script gives 256 colors which are distinct from each other.

Edit:

Last night I connected to my Linux computer (which is in my office and it is always on) with ```putty```, then opened a ```screen``` session with multiple windows in it. The colors are correct last night. Then before I went to sleep I detached the ```screen``` session and closed ```putty```.

Now in the morning when I attach that ```screen``` session in ```putty``` again, the colors crash: they appear as if there are only 8 colors.

The colors are fine outside ```screen``` (but still in ```putty```).

Three years later after I asked this question, today I saw a similar problem.  The problem is that ```vim``` can display 256 colors outside ```screen```, and ```screen``` can display 256 colors with a test script, but ```vim``` can&#39;t display any color (can only display black and white) inside ```screen```.  Just as a note to myself, here is the ```.screenrc``` file I am using

Strange behavior of vim color inside screen with 256 colors

I&#39;m trying to implement a pure WCF scenario where I want to call **Dynamics CRM WCF service** without relying on the SDK helper classes. Basically, I would like to implement federated authentication against **Dynamics CRM 2011** using only native WCF support from the .net framework.

The reason I&#39;m doing this is that I would like to port this scenario later-on to BizTalk.

I&#39;ve successfully generated proxy classes with SvcUtil, but the part of the policies and security assertions are not compatible with the configuration schema. SvcUtil suggests to build the binding from code instead, which is what I&#39;m trying to do.

I&#39;m using Rails 3.1.rc4, FactoryGirl 2.0.2, factory_girl_rails 1.1.0, and rspec.  Here is my basic rspec rspec sanity check for the `:listing` factory:

the error message is 
`undefined method &#39;each&#39; for #&lt;Feature&gt;`  which I thought made sense to me because because `listing.features` returns an array.  So I changed it to 

    association :features, [:factory =&gt; :feature]

and the error I get now is `ArgumentError: Not registered: features`  Is it just not sensible to be generating factory objects this way, or what am I missing?  Thanks very much for any and all input!

I’m in the process of building my first solo Rails app using Rails 3.1.rc5. My problem is that I want to have my site render the various CSS files conditionally. I’m using Blueprint CSS and I’m trying to have sprockets/rails render `screen.css` most of the time, `print.css` only when printing, and `ie.css` only when the site is accessed from Internet Explorer.

Unfortunately, the default `*= require_tree` command in the `application.css` manifest includes everything in the `assets/stylesheets` directory and results in an unpleasant CSS jumble. My current workaround is a sort of brute-force method where I specify everything individually:

In application.css:

    *= require_self
    *= require home.css
    ...
    *= require blueprint/screen.css

Using Rails 3.1 assets pipeline to conditionally use certain css

Is there an easy way (i.e. a configuration) to force ActiveRecord to save empty strings as NULL in the DB (if the column allows)? 

The reason for this is that if you have a NULLable string column in the DB without a default value, new records that do not set this value will contain NULL, whereas new records that set this value to the empty string will not be NULL, leading to inconsistencies in the database that I&#39;d like to avoid.

Right now I&#39;m doing stuff like this in my models:

    before_save :set_nil

    def set_nil
      [:foo, :bar].each do |att|
        self[att] = nil if self[att].blank?
      end
    end

which works but isn&#39;t very efficient or DRY. I could factor this out into a method and mix it into ActiveRecord, but before I go down that route, I&#39;d like to know if there&#39;s a way to do this already.

Using a Rails helper method within a javascript asset

I have a Rails app that I&#39;m trying to test in the production environment. I ran `RAILS_ENV=production rake assets:precompile` which generated all of my assets in /public/assets. The problem is that when I start my app w/ `RAILS_ENV=production rails s thin` I get:

    ActionController::RoutingError (No route matches [GET] &quot;/assets/application-eff78fd67423795a7be3aa21512f0bd2.css&quot;):

This file does exist though at `/public/assets/application-eff78fd67423795a7be3aa21512f0bd2.css`. 

Any thoughts as to why I&#39;m getting this `RoutingError`?

I prefer *not* to concatenate JavaScript files in development mode, but serve them as individual files. So I configured:

development.rb:

    config.assets.compress = false
    config.assets.debug = true
    config.assets.compile = true

In my /app/assets/javascript directory I have:

- reviews.js
- reviews/
  - foo.js
  - bar.js

reviews.js:

    //= require jquery
    //= require jquery_ujs
    //= require_tree ./reviews


I include the JavaScript using `&lt;%= javascript_include_tag &quot;reviews&quot; %&gt;` in my layout. The generated page correctly references the three scripts individually and `reviews.js` is essentially empty. So far so good.

Now when I precompile my assets for production using `rake assets:precompile` the three JavaScript files are concatenated into `reviews.js`. This is all fine for production but now, *in development mode*, the concatenated `reviews.js` is served **in addition** to the two individual files.

Of course, this leads to all kinds of nasty bugs when developing because now, the content of `foo.js` and `bar.js` is served twice, one of them in a potentially older version in `reviews.js`.

How can I make sure Rails doesn&#39;t use the precompiled assets in development mode?
