So, how is this actually useful?  It makes the most sense when considering **multiple themes** containing the **same custom resource attribute**.

Say you have movie-related themes like MyThemeTransformers and MyThemeHobbit, and both have an attribute called **movieIcon**. And that movieIcon attribute points to a different @drawable resource, say robot.png or hobbit.png, in each theme definition.

You can refer to &quot;**?attr/movieIcon**&quot; anywhere the theme is in effect (like in a toolbar or dialog or whatever kind of View layout), and it will automatically point to the correct drawable when you switch between themes.  You don&#39;t need any theme-dependent logic to use the different drawables. You just define the movieIcon attribute for each theme and the Android framework takes care of the rest.

I will try to explain what exactly I need to do.

I have 3 separate screens say A,B,C. There is another screen called say HomeScreen where all the 3 screens bitmap should be displayed in Gallery view and the user can select in which view does he wants to go. 

I have been able to get the Bitmaps of all the 3 screens and display it in Gallery view by placing all the code in HomeScreen Activity only. Now, this has complicated the code a lot and I will like to simplify it. 

So, can I call another Activity from HomeScreen and do not display it and just get the Bitmap of that screen. For example, say I just call HomeScreen and it calls Activity A,B,C and none of the Activities from A,B,C are displayed. It just gives the Bitmap of that screen by getDrawingCache(). And then we can display those bitmaps in Gallery view in HomeScreen.

I hope I have explained the problem very clearly.

Please let me know if this is actually possible.

I have the following TextView defined:

This does not work:

I&#39;m trying to use the `TextView` constructor with style like this:

However, when I do this, the text view does not appear to take the style (I verified the style by setting it on a static object).

I have created a custom widget, and I&#39;m declaring it in layout.xml.  I have also added some custom attributes in attr.xml.  However, when trying to declare these attributes in a style in styles.xml, it&#39;s giving me `No resource found that matches the given name: attr &#39;custom:attribute&#39;.`

I am having this issue where I am using the Android&#39;s Holo theme on a tablet project. However, I have a fragment on screen which has a white background. I am adding an `EditText` component on this fragment. I&#39;ve tried to override the theme by setting the background of the Holo.Light theme resources. However, my text cursor (carat) remains white and hence, invisible on screen (I can spot it faintly in the edittext field..).

Does anyone know how I can get EditText to use a darker cursor color? I&#39;ve tried setting the style of the EditText to `&quot;@android:style/Widget.Holo.Light.EditText&quot;` with no positive result.
