`localStorage` is something that is kept on the client side. There is no data transmitted to the server side.

You can only get the data with JavaScript and you can send it to the server side with Ajax.

We (our IT partner really) recently changed some DNS for a web farmed site we have, so that the two production server have round-robin DNS switching between them. Prior to this switch we didn&#39;t really have problems with `WebResource.axd` files. Since the switch, when we hit the live public URL, we get an error:

When we hit the specific servers themselves, they load fine. I&#39;ve researched the issue and it seems since they&#39;re sharing assets between two servers, we need to have a consistent `machineKey` in the `web.config` for each server so they can encrypt and decrypt consistently between the two. My questions are:

1. Can I generate a `machineKey` via a tool on the server, or do I need to write code to do this?
2. Do I just need to add the `machineKey` to the `web.config` on each server or do you think I&#39;ll need to do anything else to make the two server work together? (Both `web.config`&#39;s currently do not have a `machineKey`)

For some reason I convert a time format like: `03:30 to seconds 3*3600 + 30*60, now`. I wanna convert it back to its first (same) format up there. How could that be?

**My attempt:**

    3*3600 + 30*60 = 12600 
    
    12600 / 60 = 210 / 60 = 3.5, floor(3.5) = 3 = hour

Now, what about the minutes? 

Considering the value can be like `19:00 or 02:51.`

I have not found any official documentation on this. But afaik it doesn&#39;t matter whether a class is instantiated with our without the parentheses - as long as there are no parameters involved, right?

Now, I also have a content script that needs to get the options that were defined in the `options.html` page, but when I try to access localStorage from the content script, it doesn&#39;t return the value from the options page.

I believe www is considered a subdomain (a stupid decision if you ask me). If a user was originally on *site.com* and decides to type in **www**.*site.com* on her next visit, all her personal data will be inaccessible. I am attempting to share data across subdomains using Safari. I would like to use an HTML5 database (specifically _localStorage_ as my data is nothing but key-value pairs). However, it seems as though data stored to __domain.com__ can not be accessed from __sub.domain.com__ (or vice versa). Is there any way to share a single database in this situation?

I am currently developing a site that will make use of HTML5&#39;s localStorage. I&#39;ve read all about the size limitations for different browsers. However, I haven&#39;t seen anything on how to find out the current size of a localStorage instance. [This question][1] seems to indicate that JavaScript doesn&#39;t have a built in way of showing the size for a given variable. Does localStorage have a memory size property that I haven&#39;t seen? Is there an easy way to do this that I&#39;m missing?

My site is meant to allow users to enter information in an &#39;offline&#39; mode, so being able to give them a warning when the storage is almost full is very important.
