Well, I think nginx by itself doesn&#39;t have that in its setup, because the Ubuntu-maintained package does it as a convention to imitate Debian&#39;s apache setup.  You could create it yourself if you wanted to emulate the same setup.

Create `/etc/nginx/sites-available` and `/etc/nginx/sites-enabled` and then edit the `http` block inside `/etc/nginx/nginx.conf` and add this line

    include /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/*;

Of course, all the files will be inside `sites-available`, and you&#39;d create a symlink for them inside `sites-enabled` for those you want enabled.

If you&#39;d prefer a more direct approach, one that does NOT mess with symlinking between `/etc/nginx/sites-available` and `/etc/nginx/sites-enabled`, do the following:

1. Locate your nginx.conf file. Likely at `/etc/nginx/nginx.conf`
2. Find the http block.
3. Somewhere in the http block, write `include /etc/nginx/conf.d/*.conf;` This tells nginx to pull in any files in the `conf.d` directory that end in `.conf`. (I know: it&#39;s weird that a directory can have a `.` in it.)
4. Create the `conf.d` directory if it doesn&#39;t already exist (per the path in step 3). Be sure to give it the right permissions/ownership. Likely root or www-data. 
5. Move or copy your separate config files (just like you have in `/etc/nginx/sites-available`) into the directory `conf.d`.
6. Reload or restart nginx.
7. Eat an ice cream cone.

Any `.conf` files that you put into the `conf.d` directory from here on out will become active as long as you reload/restart nginx after.

Note: You can use the `conf.d` and `sites-enabled` + `sites-available` method concurrently if you wish. I like to test on my dev box using `conf.d`. Feels faster than symlinking and unsymlinking.

I tried sudo apt install nginx-full.
You will get all the required packages. 

Is there a `git stash` command that stashes your changes, but keeps them in the working directory too? So basically a `git stash; git stash apply` in one step?

I installed Nginx on Centos 6 and I am trying to set up virtual hosts. The problem I am having is that I can&#39;t seem to find the `/etc/nginx/sites-available` directory.

Is there something I need to do in order to create it? I know Nginx is up and running because I can browse to it.

I am getting a 400 Bad Request request header or cookie too large from nginx with my Rails app. Restarting the browser fixes the issue.  I am only storing a string id in my cookie so it should be tiny.

Where can I find the nginx error logs? I looked at nano /opt/nginx/logs/error.log, but it doesn&#39;t have anything related.

Here&#39;s my code storing the cookies and a screenshot of the cookies in Firebug. I used firebug to check stored session and I found New Relic and jQuery are storing cookies too; could this be why the cookie size is exceeded?

400 Bad Request - request header or cookie too large

I&#39;m new to Nginx and I&#39;m trying to get subdomains working.

What I would like to do is take my domain (let&#39;s call it `example.com`) and add:

- `sub1.example.com`,
- `sub2.example.com`, and also have
- `www.example.com` available.

I know how to do this with Apache, but Nginx is being a real head scratcher.

I&#39;m running Debian 6.

My current /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/example.com:

nginx - two subdomain configuration

I&#39;m trying to include $remote_addr or $http_remote_addr on my proxy_pass without success.

The rewrite rule works

    location ^~ /freegeoip/ {

The proxy_pass without the $remote_addr works, but freegeoip does not read the x-Real-IP

I am trying to understand how Nginx&#39;s [try_files][1] directive works. Nginx is running on my server and serving up the default page located at `/usr/share/nginx/html/index.html`.

However, I have a simple HTML page located in the filesystem at `/var/www/test/index.html`. The following config file is not causing that file to get served.  I&#39;d like to understand why not, and what change I need to make so that it will be served.

Here is the relevant portion of `default.conf`:

How can I make this try_files directive work?

I can&#39;t find PHP.ini location on my server. I&#39;ve checked all Stack Overflow answers but I can&#39;t find my php.ini location.

I have Linux, Cent OS, zPanel. Last version of PHP.

My computer: Linux Mint 15 KDE.

Where is the php.ini file on a Linux/CentOS PC?

I would like to find all the `pdf` files in a folder. It contains `pdf` files inside and more directories that contain more as well. The folder is located on a remote server I have ssh access to. I am using the mac terminal but I believe the server I am connecting to is Centos.

I need to find all the pdfs and copy them all to one directory on the remote server. I&#39;ve tried about 10 variations with no luck. Both mine and the remote systems do not seem to recognise -exec as a command though exec is fine so thats a problem.

Im not sure what the problem is here but the command does not fail it just sits there and stalls forever so I do not have any useful errors to post.

How to find files recursively by file type and copy them to a directory?

OS and server information:

 - CentOS 6.4 (Final)
 - Apache 2.2.15
 - PHP 5.5.1

I previously had php 5.3.x installed but decided to upgrade. I first uninstalled the php 5.3.x and then installed php 5.5.1 but after the installation completed apache did not parse the php files it just downloaded them. I have checked similar questions here in stackoverflow but none of them have helped me so far.

For the record I have the following lines in my httpd.conf and php.conf that should make php work but don&#39;t:

    AddHandler application/x-httpd-php .php5 .php4 .php .php3 .php2 .phtml
    AddType application/x-httpd-php .php5 .php4 .php .php3 .php2 .phtml
    AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps
    AddHandler php5-script .php


I would really appreciate any help.

By removing the 

    AddType application/x-httpd-php .php5 .php4 .php .php3 .php2 .phtml
apache no longer downloads the file. Now apache is showing the source code, but not all of it just part. I added

    AddType text/html .php
but no luck.

I&#39;m attempting to install the PHP Zip extension.  

My server does not have external internet access, so I downloaded it myself from PECL: http://pecl.php.net/package/zip.  I chose 1.10.2, the latest &quot;stable&quot; release, and transferred it to my server.

I ran:

    pear install zip-1.10.2.tgz

and added 

    extension=zip.so

to php.ini as instructed.  I can see that zip.so was created and placed in the right extension_dir folder as well.  I restarted apache and then checked to see if it was loaded by running: 

    php -m

Despite all of this, &quot;zip&quot; is still not in that list.

Am I missing a step or doing something wrong?  I thought this should be really simple, and I&#39;m starting to feel pretty dumb, haha.

Installing PHP Zip Extension

I have installed and web application which is running on port 8080 on RHEL (centOS). I only have command line access to that machine. I have tried to access that application from my windows machine from which I am connected to server via command-line, but it is giving connection time out error.

Then I have tried to open port 8080. I have added following entry into the iptables.

&gt;-A INPUT -m state --state NEW -m tcp -p tcp --dport 8080 -j ACCEPT

After adding this into the iptables I have restarted it with - 
`/etc/init.d/iptables restart`

But still I am not able to access that application from my windows machine.

Am I doing any mistake or missing something?

How to open port in Linux

I&#39;m running ubuntu 13.04 64bit on my desktop, I installed Apache2, MySQL and PHP etc.

I wanted to have my web root in `/home/afflicto/public_html` instead of `/var/www`.
So I went along with this guide:

**Here&#39;s what I did:**  
Installed Apache2, MySQL etc..

when accessing `localhost/test` or `localhost/test/index.html` etc, I get 403 forbidden error.  

What am I doing wrong? thanks in advance.

I have set the owner of the public_html directory to `www-data`.  
Also `sudo chmod -R +x public_html &amp;&amp; sudo chmod -R 777 public_html`  
Still same 403 error.

I have ``cmsplus.dev`` under ``/etc/apache2/sites-available`` with the following code,

I am sure this question is being asked many times but I am not encounter with a problem. I am using XAMPP where I configure Zend framework.

XAMPP is running on **port 8081** as **80** is being occupied by some Windows process I need to use virtual host for that I configure with following code in `C:/xampp/apache/config/extra/httpd-vhosts.config` (or `C:/xampp/apache/conf/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf` in newer releases).

With the release of TCP load balancing for the Nginx community version, I would like to mix OpenVPN and SSL pass-through data. The only way for Nginx to know how to route the traffic is via their domain name.
