It turns out that I just needed

    $inputJSON = file_get_contents(&#39;php://input&#39;);
    $input = json_decode($inputJSON, TRUE); //convert JSON into array

where the second parameter in `json_decode` returned the object as an array.



Even when the following works. 

    $inputJSON = file_get_contents(&#39;php://input&#39;);

If you want to continue using $_POST send the data as FormData

    var fd = new FormData();
    fd.append(&#39;key&#39;, &#39;value&#39;);
    return axios.post(&#39;url&#39;, fd)

At first I tried using <code>$_POST['json']</code> or just <code>$_POST</code> but since the data isn't in an array, I wasn't really sure how to access it like that.
I've tried using <code>file_get_contents('php://input')</code> and <code>fopen('php://input', 'r')</code> with and without <code>json_decode()</code> but no luck. I can't use <code>http_get_request_body()</code> since the server I'm on doesn't have PECL and that's out of my control.
Are there any other ways to interact with the POST-ed JSON object that I'm missing? Thanks!

When I use `array_merge()` with associative arrays I get what I want, but when I use them with numerical key arrays the keys get changed.

With `+` the keys are preserved but it doesn&#39;t work with associative arrays.

I don&#39;t understand how this works, can anybody explain it to me?

In regards to Error handling in PHP -- As far I know there are 3 styles:

 1. `die()`or `exit()` style:

 - What I want to know is which style should I prefer &amp; why?

Slightly OT: Is it just me or everyone thinks PHP error handling options are just *too many* to the extent it confuses php developers?

I&#39;m struggling to understand the difference between `shell_exec()` and `exec()`...

I&#39;ve always used `exec()` to execute server side commands, when would I use `shell_exec()`?

Is `shell_exec()` just a shorthand for `exec()`?  It seems to be the same thing with fewer parameters.

I am using `System.Web.Helpers.Json` to deserialize some JSON into `dynamic` in NET 4. The following line fails with this error: `TypeInitializationException: Attempt by method &#39;System.Web.Helpers.Json..cctor()&#39; to access method &#39;System.Web.Helpers.Json.CreateSerializer()&#39; failed.`

    var json = Json.Decode(response);

The `response` is lengthy but valid JSON. What could be the matter here? I have tried [LINQPad](http://linqpad.net) with a short handcrafted JSON and it worked. Is this a configuration issue of some sort?

Here is the actual sample JSON. It appears the content is pretty much irrelevant. When this is run in a brand new Console application or LINQPad, it works as expected. But if you try to run the same code from a brand new Windows Forms application, it barfs with the above error.

I&#39;m working on a script that creates a JSON file. Right now I&#39;m just using `json_encode` (PHP 5.2.x) to encode an array into JSON output. Then I print the returned value to a file and save it. Problem is that the client wants to be able to open these JSON files for readability, so I&#39;d like to add line breaks in and &quot;pretty print&quot; the JSON output. Any ideas on how to do this? My only other alternative that I can see is to not use `json_encode` at all and just write the file contents manually and add in my own line breaks for each line.

I&#39;m used to bringing data in and out of Python using CSV files, but there are obvious challenges to this. Are there simple ways to store a dictionary (or sets of dictionaries) in a JSON or [pickle][1] file?

For example:

Storing Python dictionaries

I have inherited some code that will eventually be part of an API call. Based on the existing code, the call is a post to retrieve JSON code with an access_token. While this would normally be simple and like every other API out there, this code requires that there be a customized httpheader field for the client secret. 

I was able to make this work in Objective C with URLRequest, etc. but now that I am creating the call for a web component, I have been roadblocked. 

I am using a pretty standard jquery post
     
            $.post(&#39;https://url.com&#39;, 
            {access_token:&#39;XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX&#39;,
             function(data){
               console.info(data);
             }, &#39;json&#39;);

With a HTTP-EQUIV in the header. But the post never retrieves data and the server itself doesn&#39;t recognized that any call was made (even an incomplete one).

I may have to scrap this code and start over, but if anyone has encountered this problem before, please offer any insight.

HTTP POST using JSON in Java

Is it possible to get multiple inputs of the same name to post and then access them from PHP?  The idea is this: I have a form that allows the entry of an indefinite number of physical addresses along with other information.  If I simply gave each of those fields the same name across several entries and submitted that data through post, would PHP be able to access it?

Say, for example, I have five input on one page named &quot;xyz&quot; and I want to access them using PHP.  Could I do something like:

        $_POST[&#39;xyz&#39;][0]

If so, that would make my life ten times easier, as I could send an indefinite amount of information through a form and get it processed by the server simply by looping through the array of items with the name &quot;xyz&quot;.

Here&#39;s a challenge to all `mathematica` tag followers.  Let&#39;s make it a lot more convenient to insert images into SO post from Mathematica by creating an [imgur][1] uploader.

How can we create a function `imgur[g_]` that will rasterize its argument (making sure that the final size is not wider than the width of StackOverflow posts), convert it to PNG, upload it to imgur, and return a ready to be pasted [MarkDown][2] line such as `![Mathematica graphic](http://i.imgur.com/ZENa4.jpg)` ?

If you use the main imgur, [the images will disappear after 6 months if no one views them][8]. **Problem:** 
I keep getting a HTTP 400 request which means I am doing something wrong while composing the HTTP POST Body. 

**What I Did:**
For some reference, I tried  https://stackoverflow.com/questions/4683559/flickr-api-ios-app-post-size-too-large and https://stackoverflow.com/questions/5422028/objective-c-how-to-upload-image-and-text-using-http-post. But, I keep getting a HTTP 400. 

I tried the &lt;code&gt;ASIHttpRequest&lt;/code&gt; but had a different problem there (the callback never got called). But, I didn&#39;t investigate further on that since I&#39;ve heard the developer has stopped supporting the library: http://allseeing-i.com/[request_release]; 

Could someone please help me out?
