You have broken version of RVM. Ubuntu does something to RVM that produces lots of errors, the only safe way of fixing for now is to:

    sudo apt-get --purge remove ruby-rvm
    sudo rm -rf /usr/share/ruby-rvm /etc/rvmrc /etc/profile.d/rvm.sh

open new terminal and validate environment is clean from old RVM settings (should be no output):

    env | grep rvm

if there was output, try to open new terminal, if it does not help then restart your computer.

[install RVM][1]:

    \curl -L https://get.rvm.io | 
      bash -s stable --ruby --autolibs=enable --auto-dotfiles

I ran into a similar issue today - my ruby version didn&#39;t match my rvm installs. 

    &gt; ruby -v
    ruby 2.0.0p481

    &gt; rvm list
    rvm rubies
       ruby-2.1.2 [ x86_64 ]
    =* ruby-2.2.1 [ x86_64 ]
       ruby-2.2.3 [ x86_64 ]

Also, `rvm current` failed.

    &gt; rvm current
    Warning! PATH is not properly set up, &#39;/Users/randallreed/.rvm/gems/ruby-2.2.1/bin&#39; is not at first place...

 The error message recommended this useful command, which resolved the issue for me:

    &gt; rvm get stable --auto-dotfiles

I&#39;ve got a XAMPP installation running on Windows 7.

As soon as I add a VirtualHost to httpd-vhosts.conf, BOTH the &#39;regular&#39; `http://localhost` AND the new `dropbox.local`  aren&#39;t working.

This is what I added to my `httpd-vhosts.conf`:

    &lt;/directory&gt;

But now I get this error in `dropbox.local-error.log`: 

    [Thu Feb 02 10:45:56 2012] [error] [client ::1] Directory index forbidden by Options directive: E:/Documenten/Dropbox/Dropbox/dummy-htdocs/

Furthermore when I try to access `http://localhost`, I dont get any error in the regular `error.log`, although I get the `error 403` when I try to access it.

Can anybody help... It&#39;s driving me mad :S

I&#39;ve made an erroneous php script and run, and see error output on the web browser. Also nginx error log states stderr output from fpm with the same message. I&#39;ve check that the user have write (I&#39;ve even tried 777) permission to the appointed log folder. Even the appointed error.log file has be created successfully by php-fpm. However, the log file is always empty, no matter what outrageous error has been made from php script.

What&#39;s going on?





[Found the reason quite a while later]

It was permission. Changed the owner to the sites&#39;s users solved the problem.

Let&#39;s say we&#39;re trying to divide 208 by 11.

The final should be &quot;18 with a remainder of 10&quot;...what I ultimately need is that `10`.

I have an old 2.1.1 Ruby on Rails application, with the system upgraded to use Ruby 1.8.7. It originally used 1.8.5 or so.

I want to upgrade it to Ruby 1.9.x for performance reasons, and possibly to a newer Ruby on Rails as well.

I cannot find any easy chart of compatibility between different Ruby versions and Ruby on Rails versions.

Will 2.1.1 work with Ruby 1.9.x? If not, how far do I need to upgrade it first, and what kind of issues am I likely to encounter? My application does complicated things to database layer, but the rest is fairly straightforward.

I need to check whether two arrays contain the same data in any order.
Using the imaginary `compare` method, I would like to do:

    arr1 = [1,2,3,5,4]
    arr2 = [3,4,2,1,5]
    arr3 = [3,4,2,1,5,5]

    arr1.compare(arr2) #true    
    arr1.compare(arr3) #false

I used `arr1.sort == arr2.sort`, which appears to work, but is there a better way of doing this?


Comparing two arrays ignoring element order in Ruby

So in Rails 3.2, ActiveSupport::Memoizable has been deprecated.

The message reads:

    DEPRECATION WARNING: ActiveSupport::Memoizable is deprecated and

It refers to &quot;Ruby memoization pattern&quot; (singular) as if there&#39;s one pattern we should all know and refer to...

I presume they mean something like:

    def my_method

    end

or 
    
    def my_method
      return @my_method if defined?(@my_method)

      @my_method = # ... go get the value
    end

I&#39;m trying to install trac and mod_wsgi over SSL. I tried to manually install it, but that didn&#39;t work out so well so I started to follow this: [trac-on-ubuntu](http://robertbasic.com/blog/trac-on-ubuntu/)

I skipped the svn part because I&#39;d like to use git instead. After the first edit of httpd.conf:

Why is it saying that something else is using the port when there&#39;s nothing showing up?

**EDIT:** You guys are going to laugh at this. I had an extra Listen 443 in ports.conf that shouldn&#39;t have been there. Removing that solved this.

I&#39;m running Ubuntu 11.10 and have run `sudo apt-get install jenkins` to install Jenkins on this system.

I&#39;ve seen some tutorials on how to setup a reverse proxy (Apache, Nginx, etc), however this is a VM dedicated for just jenkins and I&#39;d like keep it as lean as possible while having jenkins running on port 80.

I&#39;ve found the upstart config in `/etc/init/jenkins.conf` and modified the port to 80 `env HTTP_PORT=80`

When I start jenkins via `service jenkins start`, `ps` reveals that it runs for a few seconds then terminates.

Is this because jenkins is running as the `jenkins` user on a privileged port? If so, how do I fix this? Any other ideas a welcome.

I am trying to kill a process in the command line for a specific port in ubuntu.

If I run this command I get the port:

    sudo lsof -t -i:9001

so...now I want to run:

    sudo kill &#39;sudo lsof -t -i:9001&#39;

I get this error message:

But now I don&#39;t know what I actually did. Does this command affect anything on the server?
And how do I close this tunnel, because now I can&#39;t use my local mysql properly.

I use OSX Lion and the server runs on Ubuntu 11.10.

rebuilding a mac from scratch.  Installed xcode and rvm then trying to install rubies but they are all giving me:

I just installed RVM, but can&#39;t make it work. I have such line at the end of my `.profile` file:

I&#39;m attempting to [re-install Ruby 1.9.3 with a patch that will allow me to use ruby-debug][1].

When following the instructions and running

    rvm reinstall 1.9.3 --patch debug --force-autoconf

It runs through and after applying the patch spits out:

&gt; rvm requires autoreconf to install the selected ruby interpreter however autoreconf was not found in the PATH.

Unfortunately, googling around for how to install autoreconf on OS&amp;nbsp;X&amp;nbsp;v10.7 (Lion) (or much information about it at all) seems to be a dead end.
