just simply import &quot;existing projects into workspace&quot; and import your project. then open &#39;ant&#39; window from windows--&gt;show/view --&gt; ant 

drag-drop your ant file from project explorer to the ant window.

click to expand, and select the target you want to run -&gt;right click -&gt; run as ANT

your setup should be ok with this.

Try the following method, got it work for me.

 1. Make sure you have ant installed
 2. Create new project&gt; android project &gt; choose from exisiting source (your project source)
 3. Download [ant-contrib.jar][1], then unzip it and put the jar file to where you prefer.
 4. Add the ant-contrib jar file to Eclipse: Window&gt;Preferences&gt;Ant&gt;Runtime&gt;Global Entries&gt;Add external jar
 5. Configure your build.properties. (copy and edit build.properties.example to build.properties)
 6. Now open build.xml in editor in Eclipse then hit Run
 7. Add the built jar files in your project properties, Project Properties&gt;Java Build Path&gt;Add JAR

I&#39;m building a WordPress plugin and I&#39;d like to have an edit-item page that can&#39;t be reached via the submenu (because then the item wouldn&#39;t be specified).

This resource ([http://codex.wordpress.org/Adding_Administration_Menus](http://codex.wordpress.org/Adding_Administration_Menus)) shows how to associate an admin page with a function, but not how to do so without adding it as a menu item.

For some reason I convert a time format like: `03:30 to seconds 3*3600 + 30*60, now`. I wanna convert it back to its first (same) format up there. How could that be?

**My attempt:**

    3*3600 + 30*60 = 12600 
    
    12600 / 60 = 210 / 60 = 3.5, floor(3.5) = 3 = hour

Now, what about the minutes? 

Considering the value can be like `19:00 or 02:51.`

I&#39;ve gone through all the [documentation][1] of [logback][2] and I can&#39;t find anywhere the documentation to configure the encoder&#39;s pattern when logging, such as:

Why does this throw `NullPointerException`

The solution is by the way to replace `false` by `Boolean.FALSE` to avoid `null` being unboxed to `boolean` --which isn&#39;t possible. But that isn&#39;t the question. The question is *why*? Are there any references in JLS which confirms this behaviour, especially of the 2nd case?

I&#39;m designing a new app based on JPA/Hibernate, Spring and Wicket. The distinction between the DAO and Service layers isn&#39;t that clear to me though. According to Wikipedia, DAO is

I was wondering whether a DAO could contain methods that don&#39;t really have to do much with data access, but are way easier executed using a query? It sounds to me to be more of a service-layer method, but I&#39;m not sure if using JPA EntityManager in the service layer is an example of good practice?

Can anyone shed some light on why `Double.MIN_VALUE` is not actually the minimum value that Doubles can take? It is a positive value, and a Double can of course be negative.

I understand why it&#39;s a useful number, but it seems a very unintuitive name, especially when compared to `Integer.MIN_VALUE`. Calling it `Double.SMALLEST_POSITIVE` or `MIN_INCREMENT` or similar would have clearer semantics.

Also, what is the minimum value that Doubles can take? Is it `-Double.MAX_VALUE`? The docs don&#39;t seem to say.

In class we&#39;re now learning how to build up a Spring application, even though spring isn&#39;t directly involved, we learned how to make the interfaces for DAO and service layer objects. 

Please correct me if I&#39;m wrong:
DAO layer is pretty abstract: it just contains the CRUD operations and is further used to read data.(ie: get all objects, get specific objects, etc)

Service layer: contains services to create things, and delete things, this is where business logic should be. 

Now all of this makes sense in the service layer; except &quot;updating&quot; objects. Do you just put a &quot;update&quot; function that just saves the object in your database? Or do you need to define the logic there as well? This is where my confusion is as, my understanding is objects in Spring are just POJO&#39;s. Now then who validates the data?

how would I name the services? Or would you just let the controller take care of validation, which doesn&#39;t seem right to me. On the other hand it wouldn&#39;t seem right either to delegate every setter that needs to be called to the service layer.

I was wondering if there is an easy way to strike text within an app widget in Android. In a normal activity, it is pretty easy, using textview flags:

    textView.setPaintFlags(textView.getPaintFlags() | Paint.STRIKE_THRU_TEXT_FLAG);

But since in an app widget, I can use only remoteviews... I do not know if this is possible

I am working on Android Application. I want to have 4 buttons to be placed horizontally at the bottom of the screen. In these 4 buttons 2 buttons are having images on them. The border of the buttons should be black color and the border should be as thin as possible. When I click the button, I want the background of the button should be changed to blue color without the color of border to be changed and should be remained in that color for some time. How can I achieve this scenario in Android?

I can run and debug my Android app on my phone just fine, most of the time. Then, seemingly randomly, when I try to run or debug my app from Eclipse, the Console in Eclipse says:

Note this is *not* a question about filesystem; the file system works fine as far as I can tell--it is only a question about the _visual display_ in the Eclipse package explorer.

My codebase has a long `build.properties` file written by someone else. I want to see the available built targets without having to search through the file manually. Does ant have a command for this - something like `ant show-targets` - that will make it list all the targets in the build file?

From Eclipse, I found **I can easily export an Ant build file for my project**. It provides references to 3rd party libraries and some base targets. I&#39;m using it from my global build file. The only thing that bothers me about this, is that if something is modified in the project structure (like adding a new 3rd party library), we have to think (yes that can be hard sometimes!) about regenerating that build.xml file. **I&#39;m wondering if anyone here knows a way to have it updated automatically.** By &quot;automatically&quot; I mean that it would not be necessary to explicitly ask Eclipse to regenerate it every time it&#39;s needed. I don&#39;t know what could be the trigger though...

Any thoughts or knowledge on this?

Any way to generate ant build.xml file automatically from Eclipse?

I using ant exec task to execute xcodebuild  to build some iOS projects hudson. I would like to be able to crate script that way that allows not to specify sdk version, because after updating sdk on hudson slave or my iOS projects all my projects failing....

There is is nice option in xcode since sdk 4.2 in target setup `Base SDK - Latest iOS`

and I don&#39;t have to provide `-sdk` param in xcodebuild command, but then (i think) it&#39;s taken from xcode project and it&#39;s bad because then some one can  change target from simulator to device accidentally during commit.

I need something that is constant. I will prefer not to use env variable because I would like to be able to run this ant task also on dev machines and would like not have to renember about setting it on all machines.

Unfortunately `xcodebuild -showsdks` gives only:

    Mac OS X SDKs:

I believe I&#39;ve followed the instructions in the Android SDK, and I&#39;m now trying to build the sample LunarLander (random one picked)

    $ cd samples/android-11/LunarLander
    $ ant debug
    Buildfile: build.xml does not exist!
    Build failed

I believe all PATHs are setup correctly. 
I&#39;ve done this before in an older Android SDK release and I know I didn&#39;t encounter this error, so I&#39;m pretty confused as to what&#39;s wrong.  

Oh, one more piece of info -- I have only installed the 3.0 platform package, so I&#39;m not sure if that is an error or not.
