On ThinkPad running Ubuntu, you may try &lt;kbd&gt;CTRL&lt;/kbd&gt; + &lt;kbd&gt;Left Arrow Key&lt;/kbd&gt; or &lt;kbd&gt;Right Arrow Key&lt;/kbd&gt;

Officially it&#39;s &lt;kbd&gt;Ctrl&lt;/kbd&gt;+&lt;kbd&gt;F11&lt;/kbd&gt; &amp; &lt;kbd&gt;Ctrl&lt;/kbd&gt;+&lt;kbd&gt;F12&lt;/kbd&gt; or &lt;kbd&gt;KEYPAD 7&lt;/kbd&gt; &amp; &lt;kbd&gt;KEYPAD 9&lt;/kbd&gt;.

In practise it&#39;s a bit quirky.

 1. Specifically it&#39;s &lt;kbd&gt;**Left** Ctrl&lt;/kbd&gt;+&lt;kbd&gt;F11&lt;/kbd&gt; and &lt;kbd&gt;**Left** Ctrl&lt;/kbd&gt;+&lt;kbd&gt;F12&lt;/kbd&gt; to switch to previous orientation and next orientation respectively. 

 2. &lt;s&gt;You have to release &lt;kbd&gt;Ctrl&lt;/kbd&gt; before you can rotate again.&lt;/s&gt;

 3. &lt;kbd&gt;KEYPAD 7&lt;/kbd&gt; and &lt;kbd&gt;KEYPAD 9&lt;/kbd&gt; only work with &lt;kbd&gt;Num Lock&lt;/kbd&gt; **OFF** (so they&#39;re acting as &lt;kbd&gt;Home&lt;/kbd&gt; &amp; &lt;kbd&gt;PageUp&lt;/kbd&gt; rather than &lt;kbd&gt;7&lt;/kbd&gt; &amp; &lt;kbd&gt;9&lt;/kbd&gt;).

 4. The **only orientations** are vertically upright and rotated one quarter-turn anti-clockwise.

Maybe a bit too much info for such a simple question, but it drove me half-mad finding this out.

Note: This was tested on Android SDK R16 and a very old keyboard, modern keyboards may behave differently.

But I’m wondering, when would you use `application/javascript`, and more importantly, why would you use it instead of `text/javascript`?

Is there any way to dump the call stack in a running process in C or C++ every time a certain function is called?  What I have in mind is something like this:

       print_stack_trace();

    }

Where `print_stack_trace` works similarly to [`caller`][1] in Perl.

Or something like this:

    int main (void)
    {
        // will print out debug info every time foo() is called
        register_stack_trace_function(foo); 
    
        // etc...
    }

where `register_stack_trace_function` puts some sort of internal breakpoint that will cause a stack trace to be printed whenever `foo` is called.

Does anything like this exist in some standard C library?

I have a test run that behaves differently based on some commandline switches that shouldn&#39;t affect this behavior.  My code has a pseudo-random number generator that I assume is being called differently based on these switches.  I want to be able to run the test with each set of switches and see if the random number generator is called differently for each one.

I am new to Android development.  
I know if you change a android phone from portrait to landscape sometimes the app relays its self out on the screen.. so how do I simulate rotating a phone with the emulator? 
On the Blackberry emulators there&#39;s a button in the menu to turn the phone, but I can&#39;t find it or any option on the Android ones?  

What am I missing?

I Googled this and read the Java documentation, but I&#39;m a bit confused. Can somebody please explain what a `Context` is in plain English?

I have implemented a `ListView` in my Android application.  I bind to this `ListView` using a custom subclass of the `ArrayAdapter` class.  Inside the overridden `ArrayAdapter.getView(...)` method, I assign an `OnClickListener`.  In the `onClick` method of the `OnClickListener`, I want to launch a new activity.  I get the exception:

    Calling startActivity() from outside of an Activity  context requires the  
    FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK flag. Is this really what you want?

How can I get the `Context` that the `ListView`(the current `Activity`) is working under?

In iOS, there is a very easy and powerful facility to animate the addition and removal of UITableView rows, [here&#39;s a clip from a youtube video][1] showing the default animation.  Note how the surrounding rows collapse onto the deleted row.  This animation helps users keep track of what changed in a list and where in the list they were looking at when the data changed.

Since I&#39;ve been developing on Android I&#39;ve found no equivalent facility to animate individual rows in a [TableView][2].  Calling [`notifyDataSetChanged()`][3] on my Adapter causes the ListView to immediately update its content with new information.  I&#39;d like to show a simple animation of a new row pushing in or sliding out when the data changes, but I can&#39;t find any documented way to do this.  It looks like [LayoutAnimationController][4] might hold a key to getting this to work, but when I set a LayoutAnimationController on my ListView (similar to [ApiDemo&#39;s LayoutAnimation2][5]) and remove elements from my adapter after the list has displayed, the elements disappear immediately instead of getting animated out.

I&#39;ve also tried things like the following to animate an individual item when it is removed:

    @Override
    protected void onListItemClick(ListView l, View v, final int position, long id) {
    	Animation animation = new ScaleAnimation(1, 1, 1, 0);
    	animation.setDuration(100);
        getListView().getChildAt(position).startAnimation(animation);

    }

However, the rows surrounding the animated row don&#39;t move position until they jump to their new positions when `notifyDataSetChanged()` is called.  It appears ListView doesn&#39;t update its layout once its elements have been placed.

While writing my own implementation/fork of ListView has crossed my mind, this seems like something that shouldn&#39;t be so difficult.

Difference between target google APIs and target android

When I switch to landscape mode (&lt;kbd&gt;NUMPAD 7&lt;/kbd&gt; or &lt;kbd&gt;CTRL&lt;/kbd&gt;+&lt;kbd&gt;F11&lt;/kbd&gt;) the emulator rotates the screen to landscape orientation but the Android OS and none of the apps rotate. So everything is sitting sideways. Is there something in the AVD configuration that needs to be set in order for the device to rotate properly?
