The documentation for [css()][1] says that setting the style property to the empty string will remove that property if it does not reside in a stylesheet:

&gt; that property from an element if it
&gt; has already been directly applied,

&gt; remove a style that has been applied

Since your styles are inline, you can write:

jQuery plugin template - best practice, convention, performance and memory impact

I&#39;m a novice web programmer so please forgive me if some of my &quot;jargon&quot; is not correct.
I&#39;ve got a project using ASP.NET using the MVC3 framework.  

I am working on an admin view where the admin will modify a list of equipment.  One of the functions is an &quot;update&quot; button that I want to use jquery to dynamically edit the entry on the webpage after sending a post to the MVC controller.

I presume this approach is &quot;safe&quot; in a single admin setting where there is minimal concern of the webpage getting out of sync with the database.

I&#39;ve created a view that is strongly typed and was hoping to pass the model data to the MVC control using an AJAX post.

The reason I&#39;m asking is that, I have an application where the form fields are autogenerated, and fields are hidden/shown based on some rules (which run in Javascript). Now I want to extend it to support disabling/enabling fields, but the way the rules are written to directly manipulate the style properties of the form fields. So now I have to extend the rule engine to change attributes as well as style of form fields and somehow it seems less than ideal.

It&#39;s very curious that you have visible and display properties in CSS but not enable/disable. Is there anything like it in the still-under-works HTML5 standard, or even something non-standard (browser specific)?
