In version 7.2.2, the Tab Settings are under:

    Settings &gt; Preferences &gt; Language &gt; Tab Settings


Notepad++ newest version, as of 2/24:
Settings &gt; Preferences &gt; Language &gt; Tab Settings. It&#39;s the blue, underlined value labeled &quot;Tab Size:&quot;, just click it.

Version 7.8.1, from the main menu &quot;Settings&quot;-&gt;&quot;Preferences...&quot; on the very far right near the  bottom of the &quot;Preferences&quot; dialog you&#39;ll see &quot;Tab size:&quot; and a clickable link that you can use to change the size.

For versions prior to v7, you can find the option under:

I am new to django ! When I use the command `python manage.py collectstatic` I get this error

    django.core.exceptions.ImproperlyConfigured: You&#39;re using the staticfiles app without having set the STATIC_ROOT setting to a filesystem path


But I can successfully run the server .

My static files declarations are :

    STATIC_ROOT = &#39;&#39;
    
    STATIC_URL = &#39;/static/&#39;
    
    
    STATICFILES_DIRS = (
    
        (&#39;assets&#39;, os.path.join(PROJECT_DIR, &#39;../static&#39;)),
    )


and debug is set to true

    DEBUG = True

How can I fix this? Else am missing any installation packages ?

So, why?

 - Is there **insurmountable** technical issues? 
 - Is there architectural issues?
 - Is there performance/deadlock/concurrency issues?
 - Are sometimes multiple separate transactions required? If yes, what are the use cases? (I like the simplifying design, that calls to server either completely succeed or completely fail. It sounds to be a very stable behavior)

Background:
I worked a few years ago in a Team on a quite large ERP Software implemented in C#/NHibernate/Spring.Net. The round-trip to the server was exactly implemented like that: the transaction was opened before entering any controller logic and was committed or rollbacked after exiting the controller. The transaction was managed in the framework so that no one had to care about it. *It was a brilliant solution: stable, simple, only a few architects had to care about transaction issues, the rest of the team just implemented features.* 

From my point of view, it is the best design I have ever seen. As I tried to reproduce the same design with Spring MVC, I entered in a nightmare with lazy-loading and transaction issues and every time the same answer: don&#39;t make the controller transactional, but why?

Does anyone know how to change the background color, font size, and other appearance-based settings in Notepad++? The default is white but I am trying to change it into a dark gray or something else.

I was working on a .js file this morning on Notepad++, as usual, when the program just crashed. So I ended it, and re-opened it to see that all my code lines in my .js file, had disappeared, and now all I have left is the file with a size of 0kb because there&#39;s nothing left in it. How the hell is that even possible ? It erased everything I typed and saved the file as if there&#39;s nothing in it. 

Do you know a way to get my code back ? Or did something like this ever happened to someone ? :/ I&#39;m kinda worried because there was a lot of work there and I don&#39;t feel like re-typing it all...

Lost code lines when Notepad++ crashed

Situation:

Open a text file in n++, make some modification, press ALT-F4 or Close program.
The N++ won&#39;t ask &quot;Do you want to save your changes&quot;. Instead it quits and text file on hdd remains unchanged.

But when I open the N++ again, the MODIFIED file is still in there. Red tab is indicating unsaved changes and I can save it by ctrl-s. I can also save it by closing the tab (n++ will ask).

I want to save the file automatically every time I close the n++. All of my other istallations does that but this. I could not find any settings in the n++ options. Any idea?

How would I change it to

When a case class has many fields and their names are long, it is often a good idea to write each field in each line like:

    case class Person (
      name: String,
      age: Int
    )


This resembles C/C++ `struct` definition and totally readable even when the case class becomes bigger. But IntelliJ IDEA&#39;s default Scala plugin automatically changes its indentation:

    case class Person (
                        name: String,
                        age: Int
                        )

which looks weird to me, but the [Scala Style Guide](http://docs.scala-lang.org/style/indentation.html) doesn&#39;t mention anything about case class indentation.

I couldn&#39;t find anything in the IDE settings that can change this behaviour. Is there an option to make the auto-indentation work like the way I described above or disable auto-indentation for case classes?

Is there a way to begin a block of code with a with statement, but conditionally?

Something like:

    if needs_with():
        with get_stuff() as gs:
        
    # do nearly the same large block of stuff,
    # involving gs or not, depending on needs_with()

To clarify, one scenario would have a block encased in the with statement, while another possibility would be the same block, but not encased (i.e., as if it wasn&#39;t indented)

Initial experiments of course give indentation errors..

I&#39;ve already installed `packageControl` and it works.

I already tried `JsonReindent` package but it has not a shortcut by default and i don&#39;t know its command name.

I already have this command (from my previous sublimetext2 on another pc, where it works fine):

I would like to get something like this:

Can the code read itself in this way?

All I want is the output from the more nested parts of the code to be more nested. In the same way that this makes code easier to read, it would make the output easier to read. 

Of course I could implement this manually, using e.g. `.format()`, but what I had in mind was a custom print function which would `print(i*&#39; &#39; + string)` where `i` is the indentation level. This would be a quick way to make readable output on my terminal. 

Is there a better way to do this which avoids painstaking manual formatting?
