[`.offset()`][1] will return the offset position of an element as a simple object, eg:

    var position = $(element).offset(); // position = { left: 42, top: 567 }

You can use this return value to position other elements at the same spot:

    $(anotherElement).css(position)

Note that `$(element).offset()` tells you the position of an element *relative to the document*. This works great in most circumstances, but in the case of **`position:fixed`** you can get unexpected results.

If your document is *longer than the viewport* and you have scrolled vertically toward the bottom of the document, then your `position:fixed` element&#39;s `offset()` value **will be greater than** the expected value by the amount you have scrolled. 

If you are looking for a value *relative to the viewport* (window), rather than the document on a position:fixed element, you can subtract the document&#39;s `scrollTop()` value from the fixed element&#39;s `offset().top` value. Example: `$(&quot;#el&quot;).offset().top - $(document).scrollTop()`

If the `position:fixed` element&#39;s offset parent is the *document*, you want to read `parseInt($.css(&#39;top&#39;))` instead.

I have the following dojo codes to create a surface graphics element under a div:

`drawRec()` will draw a rectangle graphics first time. If I call this function again in an anchor href like this:

it will draw another graphics again. What I need to clean all the graphics under the div and then create again. How can I add some dojo codes to do that?

Is it possible to integrate Python and JavaScript?  For example, imagine you wanted to be able to define classes in JavaScript and use them from Python (or vice versa).  If so, what&#39;s the best way?  I&#39;m interested not only if this is possible but if **anyone has done it within a &quot;serious&quot; project or product**.

I&#39;m guessing it would be possible using [Jython][1] and [Rhino][2], for one example, but I&#39;m curious whether or not anyone&#39;s ever actually done this, and if there are solutions for other platforms (especially [CPython][3]).

Calling Javascript from a html form

I have an asp button.  It&#39;s server-side so I can only show it for logged in users, but i want it to run a javascript function and it seems when it&#39;s runat=&quot;server&quot; it always calls the postback event.

I also have a regular button (`&lt;input...`&gt;) not running at server and it works fine...

I need to display user entered text into a fixed size div.  What i want is for the font size to be automatically adjusted so that the text fills the box as much as possible.

So - If the div is 400px x 300px.  If someone enters ABC then it&#39;s really big font.  If they enter a paragraph, then it would be a tiny font.

I&#39;d probably want to start with a maximum font size - maybe 32px, and while the text is too big to fit the container, shrink the font size until it fits.

I have a page that dynamically adds script references via jQuery&#39;s `$.getScript` function.  The scripts load and execute fine, so I know the references are correct.  However, when I add a &quot;debugger&quot; statement to any of the scripts to allow me to step through the code in a debugger (such as VS.Net, Firebug, etc.), it doesn&#39;t work.  It appears that something about the way jQuery loads the scripts is preventing debuggers from finding the files.

Does anybody have a work-around for this?
