No, this is *not* using the [demo OpenID provider](http://openid-provider.appspot.com/)  using App Engine. This is your REAL Google account! 

First you need to enable your [Google Profiles](http://www.google.com/profiles/). Try to view your profile and edit it, there should be an option to set your Profile URL. You have two choices there: either use your Gmail account name (without the @gmail.com part) as your profile id, or a random number assigned to you. It&#39;s up to you to decide which one to use. Either way, that id is your profile id below. 

Now add the following HTML code to your delegating page:

Despite what the accepted answer says, you **do not** need to join Google+ to use Google as a delegate since you already have a local ID, being the part of your email preceding the `@`.

Quick question: How do I specify the number of characters in a split window?  C-x-3 Splits my window into two windows evenly, but a subsequent split will split one of the windows in half. I&#39;d like 3 equal sized windows.  The documentation says that I should be able to specify the number of characters for the left buffer as a parameter, but I cant seem to get that to work.  Any ideas for syntax?

I&#39;m trying to parse a webpage using Java with URLConnection. I try to set up the user-agent like this:

What is really the difference between OpenID and oAuth? They look just the same to me. 

I should clarify, I&#39;m planning to use them in drupal, if that makes any difference. So I guess I&#39;m bound by whatever module implementations are available in drupal.

OpenID vs. OAuth

I have a product with a straightforward REST API so that users of the product can directly integrate with the product&#39;s features without using my web user interface.

Recently I have been getting interest from various third parties about integrating their desktop clients with the API to allow users of my product to access their data using that third party application.

I&#39;ve seen that applications that want to use Twitter authenticate using a login page hosted by Twitter that grants a specific application permission to access that user&#39;s data. You click the &quot;Allow&quot; or &quot;Deny&quot; button and the authentication process is complete. Facebook uses the same mechanism as best I can tell.

Upon further research, this seems to be OAuth in action, and seeing as my API is .Net-based, I am thinking I should use DotNetOpenAuth and provide a similar mechanism. Unfortunately the samples are sparsely documented (if at all) and the only tutorials I can find online seem to be focussed on helping you provide a login mechanism for your users so that they can log into your website using a third party provider.

What I would *really* like to do is have my REST API handle all of the core authentication and business logic for my web application and have, under the hood, my web application essentially be another application that just uses the API via OAuth. Users would authenticate on the website either directly using their username and password, or via a third party provider such as MyOpenID or Facebook and then the website would somehow use the returned token to authenticate against the REST API.

It basically looks like I need my API to somehow host an OAuth service, but also have users use a third party OAuth service. I can&#39;t help but think I don&#39;t quite have enough of a grasp on OAuth to decide if I&#39;m overcomplicating things or if what I&#39;m trying to do is a good or bad way to do things.

Can someone give me at least a broad overview of the steps I need to undertake, or what I should look at to make this happen? Or point me at some tutorials? Or blast my proposal and tell me I&#39;m going about this (architecturally) all wrong?

Securing my REST API with OAuth while still allowing authentication via third party OAuth providers (using DotNetOpenAuth)

Okay, I got a website where you can register yourself and login. You can also login with your facebook, twitter or linkedin account.

It is important that users only have one account registered. So somehow, I want to merge the accounts of users if they use different methods to login. What is the best solution to solve this?

For instance, the user logs in with his Facebook account. I use the data to register an account for him automatically. Should I sent an e-mail with an username and password of our website? (If this is okay with the policy of Facebook). Should I give them a second screen where they can fill in an username and password? But that&#39;s not the idea behind logging in with your Facebook account. It should simplify your procedure to participate.

It&#39;s also possible the user has registered himself on our website and the next time he logs in with his twitter account. How can I merge these 2 accounts as one? What&#39;s the best way?

So basically my question is: I got 4 different ways a user becomes a member of our website. How can I make sure all these 4 ways only create one account if a user decides to use multiple ways? What&#39;s the best flow to make sure that it doesn&#39;t become a hassle for the user himself?

I am just getting started working with Google API and OAuth2. When the client authorizes my app I am given a &quot;refresh token&quot; and a short lived &quot;access token&quot;. Now every time the access token expires, I can POST my refresh token to Google and they will give me a new access token.

My question is what is the purpose of the access token expiring? Why can&#39;t there just be a long lasting access token instead of the refresh token?

Also, does the refresh token expire?

I can&#39;t seem to find any documentation on how to restrict the login to my web application (which uses OAuth2.0 and Google APIs) to only accept authentication requests from users with an email on a specific domain name or set of domain names. I would like to whitelist as opposed to blacklist.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to do this, documentation on the officially accepted method of doing so, or an easy, secure work around?

For the record, I do not know any info about the user until they attempt to log in through Google&#39;s OAuth authentication. All I receive back is the basic user info and email.

What is the general idea of a delegate in C++? What are they, how are they used and what are they used for?

I&#39;d like to first learn about them in a &#39;black box&#39; way, but a bit of information on the guts of these things would be great too.

This is not C++ at its purest or cleanest, but I notice that the codebase where I work has them in abundance. I&#39;m hoping to understand them enough, so I can just use them and not have to delve into the horrible nested template awfulness.
