I would recommend to use **date-&gt;diff** function, as in example below:

       $dStart = new DateTime(&#39;2012-07-26&#39;);
       $dEnd  = new DateTime(&#39;2012-08-26&#39;);
       $dDiff = $dStart-&gt;diff($dEnd);
       echo $dDiff-&gt;format(&#39;%r%a&#39;); // use for point out relation: smaller/greater

strtotime will convert your date string to a unix time stamp. (seconds since the unix epoch.

    $ts1 = strtotime($date1);
    $ts2 = strtotime($date2);
    
    $seconds_diff = $ts2 - $ts1;

Below code will give the output for number of days, by taking out the difference
between two dates..

I have a simple script blah.py (using Python 2):

    import sys
    print sys.argv[1]

If I execute my script by:

    python c:/..../blah.py argument

It prints argument but if I execute script by:

    blah.py argument

error occurs:
&gt;IndexError...

So arguments do not pass to script.

python.exe in PATH. Folder with blah.py also in PATH.  
python.exe is default program to execute *.py files.

I&#39;ve always assumed that - in the absence of constructor parameters - the parentheses (curly brackets) follow the class name when creating a class instance, were optional, and that you could include or exclude them at your own personal whim.

That these two statements were equal:

    $foo = new bar;
    $foo = new bar();

Am I right? Or is there some significance to the brackets that I am unaware of?

PHP class instantiation. To use or not to use the parentheses?

I want to loop through an array with `foreach` to check if a value exists. If the value does exist, I want to delete the element which contains it.

I have the following code:

    foreach($display_related_tags as $tag_name) {
        if($tag_name == $found_tag[&#39;name&#39;]) {
            // Delete element
        }
    }

I don&#39;t know how to delete the element once the value is found. How do I delete it?

I have to use `foreach` for this problem. There are probably alternatives to `foreach`, and you are welcome to share them.

I need a way to detect the timezone of a given date object. I do NOT want the offset, nor do I want the full timezone name. I need to get the timezone abbreviation.

Is this possible? The closest I&#39;ve gotten is parsing the result of `date.toString()`, but even that won&#39;t give me an abbreviation. It gives me the timezone&#39;s long name.

I need to find the **number of days between two dates**: one is from a report and one is the current date. My snippet:

      int age=calculateDifference(agingDate, today);

Here `calculateDifference` is a private method, `agingDate` and `today` are `Date` objects, just for your clarification. I&#39;ve followed two articles from a Java forum, [Thread 1][1] / [Thread 2][2]. 

It works fine in a standalone program although when I include this into my logic to read from the report I get an unusual difference in values. 

Why is it happening and how can I fix it?
