I have a 64 bit windows 7 and SQLServer 2008 R2 (64 bit)

How do I check if a property exists on a dynamic anonymous type in c#?

I understand the advantage of using RegexOptions.Compiled - 
it improves upon the execution time of app by having the regular expression in compiled form instead of interpreting it at run-time. Although using this is not recommended for application which are already slow at start-up time.

But if my application can bear any slight increase in start-up time -   
what are the other scenarios in which I should NOT use RegexOptions.Compiled?

Just as a note I am calling this method several times - 

    private static string GetName(string objString)
    {
        return Regex.Replace(objString, &quot;[^a-zA-Z&amp;-]+&quot;, &quot;&quot;);
    }

So, this method is called with different values for &#39;objString&#39; (although values for objString may repeat as well).

I tested my web app with both

* `RegexOptions.Compiled`, and
* Instantiate `Regex` as class variable 

But couldn&#39;t find any big difference in time taken by my web application - 
Only thing I noticed in both scenarios is that first time when the application loads it&#39;s taking double of the time taken compared to that in successive page loads and that is irrespective of whether I use RegexOptions.Compiled or not.

Any comments for --  
why my web application takes longer for the Regex to process for first time and time taken is reduced to almost half or less in subsequent loads - Is there any inbuilt caching or some other .net feature is helping here. 
P.S. This thing is same if I use RegexOptions.Compiled or not.
 


When not to use RegexOptions.Compiled

I&#39;m using WS class and it gave me error when I run the application:

There are many times when more than one panel would suitable for the layout I want, however I know there is a difference in render times for different panel types. 

For example, [MSDN][1] states that

&gt; better performance than a more complex `Panel`, such as `Grid`.

So in terms of render time and performance, in what order are WPF panels the most efficient?

WPF Panels:

* `Canvas`
* `DockPanel`

* `StackPanel`
* `WrapPanel`
* `VirtualizingPanel` / `VirtualizingStackPanel`

I&#39;m fairly sure I saw a list of this somewhere online, but I can&#39;t find it now.

The ideal answer I am looking for would provide me a list of panels in the order that they would render fastest. I understand the number of children is a big factor in how efficient the panels are, so for the sake of this question, assume each panel only has a `Label`/`TextBox` pair. 

In addition, I would like a list of exceptions, such as specific panels which perform better than others based on certain conditions.

To summarize based on the [accepted answer][2] below, the panel performance is based on the number and layout of child items, however in general the list from fastest to slowest is: 

* `Canvas`
* `StackPanel`
* `WrapPanel`
* `DockPanel`
* `Grid`

In addition, a `VirtualizingPanel` / `VirtualizingStackPanel` should always be used if there are a lot of items that don&#39;t always fit on the screen.

I&#39;d highly recommend you read the [accepted answer][3] below for more details before just picking an item from this list.

In what order are Panels the most efficient in terms of render time and performance?

I&#39;m used to WinForms programming in Visual Studio, but I wanted to give WPF a try.

I added another window to my project, called Window01. The main window is called MainWindow. Before the `public MainWindow()` constructor I declare Window01:

    Window01 w1;

Now I instantiate this window in:

    private void Window_Loaded(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)
    {
        w1 = new Window01();            
    }

I have a button where the window is shown: `w1.ShowDialog();`.

The &#39;funny&#39; thing here is the fact that if I start the application (with debugging) and exit it a few seconds after (I don&#39;t do anything in the application), Visual Studio doesn&#39;t stop debugging as if the application is still running.

If I move the line `w1 = new Window01();` to the button click method, meaning just above `ShowDialog()`, Visual Studio is behaving properly - that is, the debugging stops when I exit the application.

Why this strange behaviour?

I want to create SolidColorBrush from Hex value such as #ffaacc. How can I do this?

On MSDN, I got :

So I wrote (considering my method receives color as `#ffaacc`):

      Convert.ToInt32(color.Substring(5, 2), 16));

But this gave error as 

`The best overloaded method match for &#39;System.Windows.Media.Color.FromRgb(byte, byte, byte)&#39; has some invalid arguments`

Also 3 errors as: `Cannot convert int to byte.`

But then how MSDN example works?

Creating SolidColorBrush from hex color value

So I&#39;ve been searching around and cannot find out exactly how to do this.  I&#39;m creating a user control using MVVM and would like to run a command on the &#39;Loaded&#39; event.  I realize this requires a little bit of code behind, but I can&#39;t quite figure out what&#39;s needed.  The command is located in the ViewModel, which is set as the datacontext of the view, but I&#39;m not sure exactly how to route this so I can call it from the code behind of the loaded event.  Basically what I want is something like this...

    private void UserControl_Loaded(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)
    {
        //Call command from viewmodel
    }

Looking around I can&#39;t seem to find the syntax for this anywhere.  Do I need to bind the command in the xaml first to be able to reference it?  I notice the command bindings option within a user control will not let you bind commands as you can within something like a button...

The binding is working. If I change the value in the textbox and then click outside of it, the listbox contents will update (as long as the path exists).

The problem is that I would like to update as soon as a new character is typed, and not wait until the textbox lose focus.

How can I do that? 
Is there a way to do this directly in the xaml, or do I have to handle TextChanged or TextInput events on the box?
