I&#39;m currently following a tutorial and the tutorial is making use of `EventEmitter`. The code goes like this

    @Output() ratingClicked: EventEmitter&lt;string&gt; =
            new EventEmitter&lt;string&gt;();

But it visual studio code gives me these errors:

1. Type &#39;EventEmitter&#39; is not generic.
2. Expected 0 type arguments, but got 1.

Even in the [angular website](https://angular.io/api/core/EventEmitter) it looks like that code is correct.

I&#39;m running the following Java code on a laptop with 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7. I intended to let it measure how long it takes to finish a loop with 2^32 iterations, which I expected to be roughly 1.48 seconds (4/2.7 = 1.48).

But actually it only takes 2 milliseconds, instead of 1.48&amp;nbsp;s. I&#39;m wondering if this is a result of any JVM optimization underneath?

On GitLab, how to compare a file of two different commits? I know that that on command line git, the command is:

    git diff commit1 commit12 -- file_name

What is the link format to do this on GitLab?

On GitLab, how to compare a file of two different commits

Suppose that I would like to implement a fix to a project of someone else. That project resides on GitHub.

I could create a fork on GitHub and implement the fix.

However, I would like to create my fork on GitLab rather than on GitHub.

Is that possible? How?

I have read this article:

Anyway, I am not sure what should I do in my case.

 - Should I just create a fork on GitLab of the project from GitHub somehow?
 - Or should I create a mirror on GitLab of the project from GitHub?
 - Or should I create a mirror on GitLab and then fork the mirror?
 - Or should I do  something completely different?

What is the correct approach.

**UPDATE**

Repository mirroring on GitLab does not make sense probably. I can create a mirror of MY GitHub repository on GitLab but I cannot create a mirror of a repository of someone else.

This is what I have done so far:

I have cloned the original GitHub project to my local machine. I have commited the fix to a new branch in my local repository. I have created an empty project on GitLab. I have set origin in my local repository to that empty project on GitLab and pushed both branches to GitLab. I have set upstream in my local repository to the GitHub repository.

When I want to get new commits from the original GitHub repository to the repository on GitLab (i.e. sync the repositories), I can do this using my local repo as an intermediate step. However, there is no direct connection between the repo on GitHub and the repo on GitLab. Is my setup correct? Is there any difference if I make a fork on GitHub?

Forking Git repository from GitHub to GitLab

I&#39;m using GitLab to write a read.me file.  

I tried to create a link to a header. According to the wiki an id should be automatically created:

I created a header using:

    ### 1. This is my Header

and tried to create a link to it:

    [link](#1--this-is-my-header)

but it is not working. 
What am I doing wrong?

Today I&#39;ve enabled Gitlab&#39;s 2nd-factor authentication. After that, since I logged in the Gitlab website, I need to use my cell phone to pass a 6-digits plus my password, that&#39;s good, it makes me feel safe.

However, when I use the general operations, for example `git clone some-repo.git`, I got the error:

    Cloning into &#39;some-repo&#39;...
    remote: HTTP Basic: Access denied
    remote: You must use a personal access token with &#39;api&#39; scope for Git over HTTP.
    remote: You can generate one at https://gitlab.com/profile/personal_access_tokens
    fatal: Authentication failed for &#39;some-repo.git&#39;

Then I try existing cloned local repo, using `git pull`, the same error occurs. Before I enabled the 2nd-factor authentication, all the above operation worked fine.

Flowing the above error&#39;s instructions, I went to the mentioned address: https://gitlab.com/profile/personal_access_tokens. I created the following token, and save the token&#39;s key.

**However, I don&#39;t know what to do with this key. Can someone tell me how to use this key to enable the basic operations like `git pull`, `git clone`, `git push` etc...**

How to use git commands after enable gitlab&#39;s second-factor authentication

Just started out using self hosted GitLab... it looks like it&#39;s going to be really useful moving towards a DevOps workflow.

Anyway, after migrating about 20 local Git repositories to the new GitLab server, neatly arranged into 4 groups. I then noticed you can actually have sub-groups within the groups. This would help organisation even further, but I&#39;m struggling to work out how to move the existing projects I&#39;ve spent a day importing and configuring into a newly created sub-group. Sure I could just create a new project and copy the files over and commit them into the new project, and spend the time reconfiguring the project.

Is there an easy way of moving the existing configured Project from the group into the new subgroup?
