I&#39;m trying to disable a specific link and apply cursor style but this CSS command `cursor: text;` won&#39;t effect. The cursor is always default. I&#39;m using latest Firefox version. 

CSS:

    pointer-events: none !important;
    cursor: text;
    color: Blue;

The issue I am having is that I want to be able to change the textColor of certain text in a TextView. I am using a concatenated string, and just want the strings I am appending into the TextView&#39;s text. It appears that what I want to use is `NSMutableAttributedString`, but I am not finding any resources of how to use this in Swift. What I have so far is something like this:

I&#39;m a .NET developer and want to write an IOS &amp; Android app in C#. I&#39;ve had a read around Xamarin for Visual Studio which looks interesting if not a tad expensive!

Do you need a Mac to debug your code? Do you just need a networked Mac to actually deploy the app to the Store?

Is the best option just to buy a Mac and run Windows with VS in a VM or can I just use my windows machine, write &amp; debug the code in Windows then just hook up to a networked Mac for final deployment?

Xamarin Visual Studio IOS Development Without a Mac?

The exact situation is I&#39;m doing E2E tests with Protractor.NET (.NET port of AngularJS&#39;s Protractor E2E framework) and I would like to make some web requests (and the API -- `System.Net.Http.HttpClient` -- has all Async/`Task` methods) to Arrange my test before I Act/Assert, only I need to do this same Arrange-ing for several tests.

I&#39;m using xUnit.net as my test runner they use an interface (`IUseFixture&lt;T&gt;`) for per-fixture setup code.  It would be nice if there was a `IAsyncUseFixture&lt;T&gt;` that had a `Task SetFixtureAsync(T t);` or something.  I don&#39;t think such a thing exists.  Additionally I don&#39;t think constructors can use `await` either, and constructors are the only other way to execute the same block of code per-test in xUnit.net.

What are my options?  `.Result`?  Isn&#39;t that bad practice (deadlock)?

We&#39;ve been using Xamarin iOS for the last 8 months and developed a non-trivial enterprise app with many screens, features, nested controls. We&#39;ve done our own MVVM arch, cross platform BLL &amp; DAL as &quot;recommended&quot;. We share code between Android and even our BLL/DAL is used on our web product.

All is good except now in release phase of project we discover irreparable memory leaks everywhere in the Xamarin iOS-based app. We&#39;ve followed all the &quot;guidelines&quot; to resolve this but the reality is that C# GC and Obj-C ARC appear to be incompatible garbage collection mechanisms in the current way they overlay each other in monotouch platform.

The reality we&#39;ve found is that hard cycles between native objects and managed objects &lt;b&gt;WILL&lt;/b&gt; occur and &lt;b&gt;FREQUENTLY&lt;/b&gt; for any non-trivial app. It&#39;s extremely easy for this to happen anywhere you use lambdas or gesture recognizers for example. Add in the complexity of MVVM and it&#39;s almost a guarantee. Miss just one of these situations and entire graphs of objects will never get collected. These graphs will lure other objects in and grow like a cancer, eventually resulting in a prompt and merciless extermination by iOS.

Xamarin&#39;s answer is an uninterested deferral of the issue and an unrealistic expectation that &quot;devs should avoid these situations&quot;. Careful consideration of this reveals this as an admission that &lt;b&gt;Garbage Collection is essentially broken in Xamarin&lt;/b&gt;.

The realization for me now is that you don&#39;t really get &quot;garbage collection&quot; in Xamarin iOS in the traditional c# .NET sense. You need employ &quot;garbage maintanence&quot; patterns actually get the GC moving and doing its job, and even then it&#39;ll never be perfect - NON DETERMINISTIC.

My company has invested a fortune trying to stop our app from crashing and/or running out of memory. We&#39;ve basically had to explicitly and recursively dispose every damn thing in sight and implement garbage maintanence patterns into the app, just to stop the crashes and have a viable product we can sell. Our customers are supportive and tolerant, but we know this cannot hold forever. We are hoping Xamarin have a dedicated team working on this issue and get it nailed once and for all. Doesn&#39;t look like it, unfortunately.

Question is, is our experience the exception or the rule for non-trivial enterprise-class apps written in Xamarin?

Would anybody please let me know why this action method delegate behaves like a static method?

Why do some C# lambda expressions compile to static methods?

I have an ASP.NET Web API endpoint with controller action defined as follows :

If my post request body contains plain text ( i.e. should not be interpreted as json, xml, or any other special format ), then I thought I could just include following header to my request : 

    Content-Type: text/plain

However, I receive error : 

    No MediaTypeFormatter is available to read an object of type &#39;Object&#39; from content with media type &#39;text/plain&#39;.

If I change my controller action method signature to : 

    [HttpPost]
    public HttpResponseMessage Post([FromBody] string text)

I get a slightly different error message :

I&#39;ve got a database project as part of my solution in Visual Studio 2013. Been working perfectly for the last 3 weeks and now suddenly today it won&#39;t build and so I cannot publish any changes. I&#39;m getting an MSBuild error:

How do you get msbuild.exe without installing those crazy Visual Studio programs?

When you [add a *project* reference][1] from one project in Visual Studio to another, it will add a `&lt;ProjectReference Include=&quot;.....csproj&quot;&gt;` to the `.csproj` MSBuild file.

When you [add a *file* reference][2] from one project in Visual Studio to an assembly file in the file system, it will add a `&lt;Reference Include=&quot;Foo&quot;&gt; &lt;HintPath&gt;....Foo.dll&lt;/HintPath&gt; ...` to the `.csproj` MSBuild file.

In *both* cases, for the Visual Studio Setting `Copy Local = True|False`, a sub-element `&lt;Private&gt;True&lt;/Private&gt;` or `&lt;Private&gt;False&lt;/Private&gt;` will be added.

`Reference`and `ProjectReference` seem to be documented under [Common MSBuild Project Items][3]:

I saw this in a project file the other day:

Every node in a `ProjectReference` appears to be self explanatory (the referenced project file, GUID, name to show in the solution explorer, and whether or not the current project should link to the referenced project) except `Private`, and the [Common MSBuild Project Items][1] page doesn&#39;t document this value. (There&#39;s a `Private` setting documented for `Reference` rather than `ProjectReference` -- but it has `Never`, `Always`, and `PreserveNewest` settings, not true and false)

I&#39;d like to publicate my app to GooglePlay but first i would like to do a last testing with the signed apk to ensure that all of the used API keys are working correctly with the release version (GMaps, Facebook, etc)

So i just **made a signed version of my app with our release key** and when i try to install the app to the device **i got an error:**

I have tried to copy the apk to the device and **install it with an apk installer app.**

Strange thing is when i do the same process **with debug signing key, all is well, I can install and run the app.**

I have a solution in Visual Studio 2012 with 170 C# projects in it. I need to retarget all of the projects from .NET Framework 4.0 to 4.5.2.

I prefer to let Visual Studio handle this by going into the properties of each project, changing the targeted framework, and letting Visual Studio make any necessary changes to the .csproj files.

I noticed that these changes include adding a few new XML tags to the .csproj, depending on some attributes of the current project.

How can I batch retarget all 170 C# projects without just using a replace text tool to replace the targeted version number? I want Visual Studio to make all the necessary tag modifications and additions and replace alone will not permit that to happen.
