I have a test file that contains tests taking quite a lot of time (they send calculations to a cluster and wait for the result). All of these are in specific TestCase class.

Since they take time and furthermore are not likely to break, I&#39;d want to be able to choose whether this subset of tests does or doesn&#39;t run (the best way would be with a command-line argument, ie &quot;`./tests.py --offline`&quot; or something like that), so I could run most of the tests often and quickly and the whole set once in a while, when I have time.

For now, I just use `unittest.main()` to start the tests.

I&#39;ve looked at using `Callback()`, but `Action&lt;&gt;` does not support ref parameters because it&#39;s based on generics. I&#39;d also preferably like to put a constraint (`It.Is`) on the input of the `ref` parameter, though I can do that in the callback.

How to get the IP address of the server on which my C# application is running on?

I am trying to build a pie chart from a dictionary. Before I display the pie chart, I want to tidy up the data. I&#39;m removing any pie slices that would be less than 5% of the pie and putting them in a &quot;Other&quot; pie slice. However I&#39;m getting a `Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute` exception at runtime.

I understand why you can not add or remove items from a dictionary while iterating over them. However I don&#39;t understand why you can&#39;t simply change a value for an existing key within the foreach loop.

Any suggestions re: fixing my code, would be appreciated.

Editing dictionary values in a foreach loop

but it didn&#39;t solve my doubt .. Let me explain better, I was doing connection with database and needed to show the results in a GridView. (I used RecordSet when I worked with VB6 while ago and DataSet is pretty similar to it so was much easier to use DataSet.)
Then a guy told me DataSet wasn&#39;t the best method to do ..

So, should I &#39;learn&#39; DataReader or keep using DataSet ? DataTable ?

[This KB Article][1] says that ASP.NET&#39;s `Response.End()` aborts a thread.  

Reflector shows that it looks like this:

This seems pretty harsh to me.  As the KB article says, any code in the app following `Response.End()` will not be executed, and that violates the principle of least astonishment. It&#39;s almost like `Application.Exit()` in a WinForms app. The thread abort exception caused by `Response.End()` is not catchable, so surrounding the code in a `try`...`finally` won&#39;t satisfy.  

It makes me wonder if I should always avoid `Response.End()`.

Can anyone suggest, when should I use `Response.End()`, when `Response.Close()` and when `HttpContext.Current.ApplicationInstance.CompleteRequest()`?

Based on the input I&#39;ve received, my answer is, **Yes, `Response.End` is harmful**, but it is useful in some limited cases.

 - use `Response.End()` as an uncatchable throw, to immediately terminate the `HttpResponse` in exceptional conditions. Can be useful during debugging also.  *Avoid `Response.End()` to complete routine responses*. 
 - use `Response.Close()` to immediately close the connection with the client.  Per [this MSDN blog post][3], this method *is not intended for normal HTTP request processing.*  It’s highly unlikely that you would have a good reason to call this method.
 - use `CompleteRequest()` to end a normal request.  `CompleteRequest` causes the ASP.NET pipeline to jump ahead to the `EndRequest` event, after the current `HttpApplication` event completes.  So if you call `CompleteRequest`, then write something more to the response, the write will be sent to the client.

Is Response.End() considered harmful?

I have a static timer class which will be called by ANY webpage to calculate how long each page has taken to be constructed.

My question is are Static classes thread safe? In my example will concurrent users cause a problem with my start and stop times?  e.g a different threads overwriting my start and stop values.

What is the code required to redirect the browser to a new page with an ASPX page?

I have tried this on my page default.aspx :

And these resulted in a server error that is undetermined. I cannot see the error code; because the server is not in my control and the errors are not public.
