if you are concerned only about quality of code, then Sonar is a great tool and it is a way to go.

Though, I would recommend you to also look at the quality from a broader perspective. For example your customer would not care a lot about your code quality and instead would evaluate quality as number of bugs he encounters in your product releases. So in addition to code, you may analyse your defects, quality of your development process and probably many other aspects.

You may take a look at [programeter][1], if you are interested in quality of the product as a whole, and not just the code quality (disclaimer: I am the co-founder at Programeter).

Since you are just starting out in that field simply go with sonar and re-evaluate in 1 year.

You don&#39;t indicate your platform.  If you&#39;re an Eclipse shop, there&#39;s [CodePro Analytix][1].

I installed [ImageMagick][1] via [Homebrew][2].

However, due to a bug I have with my current configuration, I need to adjust the compile flags for the formula and reinstall it.

How can I accomplish this?

We in our organization are trying to implement a source code quality management tool. SonarQube is one such tool that we have come across, and it&#39;s quite full of features and is phenomenal. We want to compare it with its peers, if there are any, before we actually implement it.

We are working on a web project from scratch and are looking at the following static code analysis tools.

 - Conventions (Checkstyle)
 - Bad practices (PMD) 
 - Potential bugs (FindBugs)

The project is built on Maven. Instead of using multiple tools for the purpose, I was looking at a single flexible solution and came across SonarQube.

Is it true that we can achieve the results from Checkstyle, PMD and Findbugs with SonarQube? 

Is SonarQube Replacement for Checkstyle, PMD, FindBugs?

Is it possible to turn off sonar ([www.sonarsource.org][1]) measurements for specific blocks of code, which one doesn&#39;t want to be measured?

An example is the &quot;Preserve Stack Trace&quot; warning which Findbugs outputs.  When leaving the server, I might well want to only pass the message back to the client, not including the actual exception which I just caught, if that exception is unknown to the client (because the client doesn&#39;t have the JAR in which that exception was contained for example).

Turning Sonar off for certain code

There is a Sonar Violation:

I have a Sonar profile in Maven. Everything works fine except the code coverage metric. I want to make Sonar ignore some classes only for the code coverage metric. I have the following profile:

How to make Sonar ignore some classes for codeCoverage metric?

I&#39;ve searched up and down the internet for this one. There&#39;s lots of half-answers out there, to do with Maven properties such as `${sonar.jacoco.reportPath}`, or `org.jacoco:jacoco-maven-plugin:prepare-agent` or setting `maven-surefire-plugin` `argLine` with `-javaagent`.

Some how, none of these answers, either on their own, or in combination, are producing what I&#39;m after:
A coverage report which shows a class as covered if it is used in tests higher up the stack, such as entities being used by DAOs, even though it was not fully covered by tests in its own module.

Is there a definitive config somewhere, to achieve this, please?
