ID is an attribute, you can set it with the [attr][1] function:



    $(element).attr(&#39;id&#39;, &#39;newID&#39;);

I&#39;m not sure what you mean about *adding IDs* since an element can only have one identifier and this identifier must be unique.

Just be careful that you don&#39;t set multiple elements to the same ID.


Like this :

    $(&#39;div.foo&#39;).attr(&#39;id&#39;, id + &#39; id_adding&#39;);

 1. get actual ID
 2. put actuel ID and add the new one

I&#39;ve used something like this before which addresses @scunliffes concern. It finds all instances of items with a class of (in this case .button), and assigns an ID and appends its index to the id name:

So let&#39;s say you have 3 items with the class name of .button on a page. The result would be adding a unique ID to all of them (in addition to their class of &quot;button&quot;). 

In this case, #button-0, #button-1, #button-2, respectively. This can come in very handy. Simply replace &quot;.button&quot; in the first line with whatever class you want to target, and replace &quot;button&quot; in the return statement with whatever you&#39;d like your unique ID to be. I have recently started programming in WPF and bumped into the following problem. I don&#39;t understand how to use the `Dispatcher.Invoke()` method. I have experience in threading and I have made a few simple Windows Forms programs where I just used the

Yes I know that is pretty lame but these were simple monitoring applications.

The fact is now I am making a WPF application which retrieves data in the background, I start off a new thread to make the call to retrieve the data (from a webserver), now I want to display it on my WPF form. The thing is, I cannot set any control from this thread. Not even a label or anything. How can this be resolved?

Here&#39;s my issue - I need to dynamically download several scripts using jQuery.getScript() and execute certain [JavaScript][1] code after all the scripts were loaded, so my plan was to do something like this:

    function GetScripts(scripts, callback)
    {
      var len = scripts.length
      for (var i in scripts)
      {
        jQuery.getScript(scripts[i], function() 
        {
          len --;
          // executing callback function if this is the last script that loaded
          if (len == 0)
            callback()  
        })
      }
    }

This will only work reliably if we assume that script.onload events for each script fire and execute sequentially and synchronously, so there would never be a situation when two or more of the event handlers would pass check for (len == 0) and execute callback method.

So my question - is that assumption correct and if not, what&#39;s the way to achieve what I am trying to do?

Is JavaScript multithreaded?

Is there a nice tidy jQuery plugin that allows including a single JS script then using a simple snippet to enable a form? Something like this:

    $j(&#39;#MyForm&#39;).enableDragDropUploads(&#39;.upload-area&#39;)

With the upload target being the action of the form.

Any solution must not prevent a regular file field from being usable (using traditional browse method).

I only need one file at a time, though of course having the option for multiple isn&#39;t a bad thing.

I&#39;ve found a couple of drag-drop upload examples:

A Google Gears one is acceptable, but a Flash solution is not.

I&#39;ve got some links that I want to select class and id at the same time.

This is because I&#39;ve got 2 different behaviours. When a class of links got one class name they behave in one way, when the same clas of links got another class name they behave differently. The class names are switch with jquery.

So I have to be able to select a links class AND id at the same time. Is this possible?

In psuedo code, this is what I want.

The reason is that I need to pass this off to an external environment, where a string is my only way to exchange data.  This external environment then needs to send back a result, along with what element to update.  So I need to be able to serialize a unique CSS selector for every element on the page.

I noticed jquery has a `selector` method, but it does not appear to work in this context.  It only works if the object was created with a selector.  It does not work if the object was created with an HTML node object.
