If you need a weak reference to the cell value:

    object field = d.Rows[0][3]

or

    object field = d.Rows[0].ItemArray[3]

Should do it

If you need a strongly typed reference (string in your case) you can use the [DataRowExtensions.Field][1] extension method:

    string field = d.Rows[0].Field&lt;string&gt;(3);

(make sure System.Data is in listed in the namespaces in this case)

Indexes are 0 based so we first access the first row (0) and then the 4th column in this row (3)

How do you save/load a scipy sparse `csr_matrix` in a portable format?  The scipy sparse matrix is created on Python 3 (Windows 64-bit) to run on Python 2 (Linux 64-bit).  Initially, I used pickle (with protocol=2 and fix_imports=True) but this didn&#39;t work going from Python 3.2.2 (Windows 64-bit) to Python 2.7.2 (Windows 32-bit) and got the error:

    TypeError: (&#39;data type not understood&#39;, &lt;built-in function _reconstruct&gt;, (&lt;type &#39;numpy.ndarray&#39;&gt;, (0,), &#39;[98]&#39;)).

Next, tried `numpy.save` and `numpy.load` as well as `scipy.io.mmwrite()` and `scipy.io.mmread()` and none of these methods worked either.

Often I want to check if a provided value matches one in a list (e.g. when validating):

    if (!acceptedValues.Any(v =&gt; v == someValue))
    {
        // exception logic
    }

Recently, I&#39;ve noticed ReSharper asking me to simplify these queries to:

    if (acceptedValues.All(v =&gt; v != someValue))
    {
        // exception logic
    }

Obviously, this is logically identical, perhaps slightly more readable (if you&#39;ve done a lot of mathematics), my question is: does this result in a performance hit?

It feels like it should (i.e. `.Any()` sounds like it short-circuits, whereas `.All()` sounds like it does not), but I have nothing to substantiate this. Does anyone have deeper knowledge as to whether the queries will resolve the same, or whether ReSharper is leading me astray?

I need to get all the properties using reflection in the order in which they are declared in the class. According to MSDN the order can not be guaranteed when using `GetProperties()`

But I&#39;ve read that there is a workaround by ordering the properties by the `MetadataToken`. So my question is, is that safe? I cant seem find any information on MSDN about it. Or is there any other way of solving this problem?

Since I&#39;ve known about Node.js, I&#39;ve always been a fan of it. But today I found about [SignalR][1], which provides an alternative asynchronous - scalable - realtime model for ASP.NET. 

As far as I know, the main advantage of Node.js over SignalR is sharing code between client-server (another advantage should be that it is cross-platform), and the main advantage of SignalR is a much more mature framework and far better tool (IDE) support. So I wonder: if SignalR is here, do we need Node.js on Windows anymore? Are there any advantages of Node.js I don&#39;t know?

Serializing a list to JSON

I am loading an aspx web page in an iframe. The content in the Iframe can be of more height than the iframe&#39;s height. The iframe should not have scroll bars.

I have a wrapper `div` tag inside the iframe which basically is all the content.  I wrote some jQuery to make the resize happen :

where
`TB_window` is the div in which the `Iframe` is contained.

`body` - the body tag of the aspx in the iframe.

This script is attached to the iframe content. I am getting the `TB_window` element from the parent page. While this works fine on Chrome, but the TB_window collapses in Firefox. I am really confused/lost on why that happens.

To improve an older project I am forced by the circumstances to use VS 2008 and Framework 3.5 - I have issues with the edmx showing bizarre behavior and not updating the entities as required.

The edmx throws me the above error, but when I go to the respective table and right click it - &quot;Update Model from Database&quot; there is no change, the error is still there. 

If I delete the table from the diagram by selecting it and pressing del, then in the Model Browser It disappears from the .Database but when clicking &quot;Update model from Database&quot; I can&#39;t see i in the &quot;Add&quot; list, all I can do is &quot;Refresh&quot; the table since I still see it in the refresh list (which should not happen because I deleted it! )

The following code has a static method, `Foo()`, calling an instance method, `Bar()`:

It compiles without error* but generates a runtime binder exception at runtime. Removing the dynamic parameter to these methods causes a compiler error, as expected.

So why does having a dynamic parameter allow the code to be compiled? ReSharper doesn&#39;t show it as an error either.

**Edit 1:** *in Visual Studio 2008

**Edit 2:** added `sealed` since it&#39;s possible that a subclass could contain a static `Bar(...)` method. Even the sealed version compiles when it&#39;s not possible that any method other than the instance method could be called at runtime.

Why does the C# compiler not fault code where a static method calls an instance method?

I&#39;m trying to put an existing project under Git source control, but I&#39;m unclear on several things.

I have set up a &#39;Team Foundation Service&#39; Git account online.

I currently have an ASP.NET MVC 4 solution - in my Projects folder. I have created a Git &#39;repository&#39; locally (an empty folder currently). Should this just be my current application folder in Projects? Or does it need to be a copy?

Ok, this may be the dumbest question ever, but I swear I searched for the answer and don&#39;t know what to do.

I need to install Visual Studio 2008. The free version. I need it in order to compile something. 

Microsoft has a download page http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=7873 with a big red &quot;download&quot; button. This button then proceeds to download a powerpoint file. No info under &quot;install instructions&quot;

I have found other links that show you how to install it, but assuming that you&#39;ve already got whatever it is that needs to be downloaded.

I&#39;ve also found a couple of random sites where I can download it, but don&#39;t know for sure if I can trust these sites. 

EDIT: I am also not having any luck finding visual studio express 2008. MS has links for 2012.

I have imported data from some Excel file and I have saved it into a `datatable`. Now I&#39;d like to save this information in my `SQL Server` database.

I saw a lot of information on the web but I cannot understand it:

1. Someone said insert line by line another suggested bulk update... etc: what it better?
2. Should I use `OLE` or `SQL Server` objects (like `dataAdapter` or `connection`)?

My need is to read the employee weekly hours report, from his Excel file and save it to a database table where all the reports are saved (updating the db with new records every week).

The Excel file contains reports only for the current week.
