I&#39;ve seen plenty of info about how to stream video from the server to an android device, but not much about the other way, ala Qik.  Could someone point me in the right direction here, or give me some advice on how to approach this?

Streaming video from Android camera to server

I have searched the internet for days now on how to implement a video streaming feature from an android phone to another android phone over a WiFi connection but I can&#39;t seem to find anything useful. I looked on android developers for sample code, stackoverflow, google, android blogs but nothing. All I can find are some sort of phone-to-desktop or desktop-to-phone solutions for streaming, but nothing that I can borrow in my implementation. 

I need to control a robot using an arduino ADK, so I am using 2 phones, one which will be mounted on the robot and another which will receive the video stream from the robot. I am mentioning this because I am trying to achieve the smallest delay between the broadcast time and the viewing time.

I am writing 2 apps, one master app to control the robot(from the handheld phone) which will control the slave app and receive the stream, and the second slave app which will run on the robot-strapped phone, controlling the motors/actuators/streaming to master app. I can not use third party apps unfortunately. I need to integrate the video stream code into my 2 apps.

What options are there for achieving this? Also is it very hard to do because I never worked with videostreaming, tough I am doing pretty good in both Java and Android development. How should I encode/decode the stream, how do I initiate the connection, will I need to work with UDP instead of TCP/IP ? I really don&#39;t know where to start, with no sample code anywhere. I am pretty sure this can be achieved. I just can&#39;t find anything useful to get me started in the right direction.

I stumbled across [spydroid][1]  but it is using VLC on a desktop so its no good for me.

Live-stream video from one android phone to another over WiFi

I&#39;m looking to place a video in an HTML5 page that will begin playing on page-load, and once completed, loop back to the beginning without a break. The video should also **NOT** have any controls associated with it, and either be compatible with all &#39;modern&#39; browsers, or have the option of a polyfill.

Previously I would have done this via `Flash` and `FLVPlayback`, but I would prefer to steer clear of `Flash` in the HTML5 sphere. I&#39;m thinking I could use javascript&#39;s `setTimeout` to create a smooth loop, but what should I use to embed the video itself? Is there something out there that will stream the video the way `FLVPlayback` would?

I have an ip camera which provides a live RTSP video stream. I can use VLC media player to view the feed by providing it with the URL:

    rtsp://cameraipaddress

But I need to display the feed on a web page. The camera provider supplied an ActiveX control which I got working, but it is really buggy and causes the browser to frequently hang.

Does anyone know of any alternative video plugins I could use which support RTSP? 

The camera can be configured to stream in either H264 or MPEG4.

I just came home from my exam in network-programming, and one of the question they asked us was **&quot;If you are going to stream video, would you use TCP or UDP? Give an explanation for both stored video and live video-streams&quot;**. To this question they simply expected a short answer of TCP for stored video and UDP for live video, but I thought about this on my way home, and is it necessarily better to use UDP for streaming live video? I mean, if you have the bandwidth for it, and say you are streaming a soccer match, or concert for that matter, do you really need to use UDP?

Lets say that while you are streaming this concert or whatever using TCP you start losing packets (something bad happened in some network between you and the sender), and for a whole minute you don&#39;t get any packets. The video-stream will pause, and after the minute is gone packets start to get through again (IP found a new route for you). What would then happen is that TCP would retransmit the minute you lost and continue sending you the live stream. As an assumption the bandwidth is higher than the bit-rate on the stream, and the ping is not too high, so in a short amount of time, the one minute you lost will act as a buffer for the stream for you, that way, if packet-loss happens again, you won&#39;t notice.

Now, I can think of some appliances where this wouldn&#39;t be a good idea, like for instance video-conferences, where you **need** to always be at the end of the stream, because delay during a video-chat is just horrible, but during a soccer-match, or a concert what does it matter if you are a single minute behind the stream? Plus, you are guaranteed that you get all the data and it would be better to save for later viewing when it&#39;s coming in without any errors.

So this brings me to my question. Are there any drawbacks that I don&#39;t know of about using TCP for live-streaming? Or should it really be, that if you have the bandwidth for it you should go for TCP given that it is &quot;nicer&quot; to the network (flow-control)?

TCP vs UDP on video stream

I would like to record the users webcam and audio and save it to a file on the server. These files would then be able to be served up to other users.

I have no problems with playback, however I&#39;m having problems getting the content to record.

My understanding is that the getUserMedia `.record()` function has not yet been written - only a proposal has been made for it so far.

I would like to create a peer connection on my server using the PeerConnectionAPI. I understand this is a bit hacky, but I&#39;m thinking it should be possible to create a peer on the server and record what the client-peer sends.

If this is possible, I should then be able to save this data to flv or any other video format.

My preference is actually to record the webcam + audio client-side, to allow the client to re-record videos if they didn&#39;t like their first attempt before uploading. This would also allow for interruptions in network connections. I&#39;ve seen some code which allows recording of individual &#39;images&#39; from the webcam by sending the data to the canvas - that&#39;s cool, but I need the audio too.

What is the fastest way to stream *live* video using JavaScript? Is WebSockets over TCP a fast enough protocol to stream a video of, say, 30fps?

HTML5 live streaming

I&#39;m working on an app that has video streaming functionality. I&#39;m using firebase database and firebase storage. I&#39;m trying to find some documentation on how firebase storage handles video files, but can&#39;t really find much.

There&#39;s mentioning in the docs that firebase storage works with other google app services to allow for CDN and video streaming, but all searches seem to lead to a dead end. Any advice?

Ok, I have been trying to wrap my head around this http live streaming. I just do not understand it and yes I have read all the apple docs and watched the wwdc videos, but still super confused, so please help a wanna be programer out!!!

The code you write goes on the server? not in xcode?
If I am right how do i set this up?
Do I need to set up something special on my server? like php or something?
How do use the tools that are supplied by Apple.. segmenter and such?

HTTP LIve Streaming

In the documentation of Android [TextureView](http://developer.android.com/reference/android/view/TextureView.html) it says that you can use a TextureView to play video: 
But I cant seem to find any example of how to do this. Does anyone know? 

I need to use a `textureView` because I want to animate the video. I want to play a video in .3gp/.mp4 format, not video from the Camera :)

Any help would be appreciated..

Playing video on TextureView

I am a beginner in OpenCV. I want to do some image processing on the frames of a video which is being uploaded to my server. I just want to read the available frames and write them in a directory. Then, wait for the other part of the video to be uploaded and write the frames to the directory. And , I should wait for each frame to be completely uploaded then write it to a file.

Can you tell me how can I do it with OpenCV (Python)?

I wrote this code for capturing the video from a file, while new data are being appended at the end of the file. In other words, the `out.mp4` file is not a complete video and another program is writing new frames on it. What I&#39;m going to do is, wait for the other program to write new frames then read them and display them.

Here is my code:
