I have the following tables

1. ClassRoom     (ClassID,ClassName)
2. StudentClass  (StudentID,ClassID)
3. Student       (StudentID,StudentName,Etc..)
4. StudentDescription. (StudentDescriptionID,StudentID,StudentDescription)


I want to retrieve all the information on student==1

In sql I would do something like BELOW and get all the info about a student.

     join StudentClass sc on s.StudentID=sc.StudentID
     join ClassRoom c on sc.ClassID=c.ClassID
     left join StudentDescription sd on s.StudentID=sd.StudentID
     where s.StudentID=14

Now my problem.Using EF4 I did something like this but cannot make it work.
Also can you do an include and a left join

      right join Table1 on Table1.id = Table2.id

I want to get every IP address from `login_log` which doesn&#39;t have a row in `ip_location`.  
I tried this query but it throws a syntax error.

                     WHERE login_log.ip = ip_location.ip)

I&#39;m also wondering if this query (with adjustments to make it work) is the best performing query for this purpose.


Select rows which are not present in other table

I have two tables, one for job deadlines, one for describe a job. Each job can take a status and some statuses means the jobs&#39; deadlines must be deleted from the other table.

I can easily `SELECT` the jobs/deadlines that meets my criteria with a `LEFT JOIN`:

    SELECT * FROM `deadline`
    LEFT JOIN `job` ON deadline.job_id = job.job_id
    WHERE `status` = &#39;szamlazva&#39;
    OR `status` = &#39;szamlazhato&#39;
    OR `status` = &#39;fizetve&#39;
    OR `status` = &#39;szallitva&#39;
    OR `status` = &#39;storno&#39;

(`status` belongs to `job` table not `deadline`)

But when I&#39;d like to delete these rows from `deadline`, MySQL throws an error. My query is:

    DELETE FROM `deadline`
    LEFT JOIN `job`
    ON deadline.job_id = job.job_id
    WHERE `status` = &#39;szamlazva&#39;
    OR `status` = &#39;szamlazhato&#39;
    OR `status` = &#39;fizetve&#39;
    OR `status` = &#39;szallitva&#39;
    OR `status` = &#39;storno&#39;

MySQL error says nothing:

I need to retrieve all default settings from the settings table but also grab the character setting if exists for x character. 

But this query is only retrieving those settings where character is = 1, not the default settings if the user havent setted anyone.

    FROM (`settings`)
    LEFT JOIN `character_settings` 
    ON `character_settings`.`setting_id` = `settings`.`id`
    WHERE `character_settings`.`character_id` = &#39;1&#39;  

So i should need something like this:

Left Join With Where Clause

I read many threads about getting only the first row of a left join, but, for some reason, this does not work for me.

Here is my structure (simplified of course)

**Feeds**

    id |  title | content
    ----------------------
    1  | Feed 1 | ...


**Artists**

    artist_id | artist_name
    -----------------------
    1         | Artist 1
    2         | Artist 2

**feeds_artists**
    
    rel_id | artist_id | feed_id
    ----------------------------
    1      |     1     |    1 
    2      |     2     |    1 
    ...

Now i want to get the articles and join only the first Artist and I thought of something like this:

    SELECT *
        FROM feeds 
        LEFT JOIN feeds_artists ON wp_feeds.id = (
            SELECT feeds_artists.feed_id FROM feeds_artists
            WHERE feeds_artists.feed_id = feeds.id 
    	LIMIT 1
        )
    WHERE feeds.id = &#39;13815&#39;

just to get only the first row of the feeds_artists, but already this does not work.

I can not use `TOP` because of my database and I can&#39;t group the results by `feeds_artists.artist_id` as i need to sort them by date (I got results by grouping them this way, but the results where not the newest)

Tried something with OUTER APPLY as well - no success as well.
To be honest i can not really imagine whats going on in those rows - probably the biggest reason why i cant get this to work.

       And t2.ColumnB = t3.ColumnB
       And t2.ColumnC = t3.ColumnC
    ... and query continues on etc.

**Problem:**

I need that Query to be rewritten in LINQ. I&#39;ve tried taking a stab at it:

I would like to join these two DataFrames to make them into a single dataframe using the DataFrame.join() command in pandas.

I have tried the following line of code:

    #the following line of code creates a left join of restaurant_ids_frame and   restaurant_review_frame on the column &#39;business_id&#39;
    restaurant_review_frame.join(other=restaurant_ids_dataframe,on=&#39;business_id&#39;,how=&#39;left&#39;)

But when I try this I get the following error:

    Exception: columns overlap: Index([business_id, stars, type], dtype=object)

I am very new to pandas and have no clue what I am doing wrong as far as executing the join statement is concerned.

I have two data frames that I want to join using dplyr. One is a data frame containing first names.

I essentially want to look up the gender of the name from the `test_data` table using the `kantrowitz` table. Because I&#39;m going to abstract this into a function `encode_gender`, I won&#39;t know the name of the column in the data set that&#39;s going to be used, and so I can&#39;t guarantee that it will be `name`, as in `kantrowitz$name`.

In base R I would perform the merge this way:

    merge(test_data, kantrowitz, by.x = &quot;first_names&quot;, by.y = &quot;name&quot;, all.x = TRUE)

That returns the correct output:

it runs fine until I make them `LEFT JOIN`s.  I thought that by not specifying a type of join it was assumed to be a `LEFT JOIN`.  Is this not the case?

I&#39;m selecting some objects and their tags in Postgres. The schema is fairly simple, three tables:

**objects** `id`

**taggings** `id | object_id | tag_id`

**tags** `id | tag`

I&#39;m joining the tables like this, using `array_agg` to aggregate the tags into one field:

    SELECT objects.*,
        array_agg(tags.tag) AS tags,
    FROM objects
    LEFT JOIN taggings ON objects.id = taggings.object_id
    LEFT JOIN tags ON tags.id = taggings.tag_id

However, if the object has no tags, Postgres returns this:

    [ null ]

instead of an an empty array. **How can I return an empty array when there are no tags?** I have double checked that I don&#39;t have a null tag being returned.

The [aggregate docs](http://www.postgresql.org/docs/9.1/static/functions-aggregate.html) say &quot;The coalesce function can be used to substitute zero or an empty array for null when necessary&quot;. I tried `COALESCE(ARRAY_AGG(tags.tag)) as tags` but it still returns an array with null. I have tried making the second parameter numerous things (such as `COALESCE(ARRAY_AGG(tags.tag), ARRAY())`, but they all result in syntax errors.

I have two tables: `groups` and `group_members`.

The `groups` table contains all the information for each group, such as its ID, title, description, etc.  

In the `group_members` table, it lists all the members who are apart of each group like this:

    group_id | user_id
    1 | 100
    2 | 23
    2 | 100
    9 | 601

Basically, I want to list THREE groups on a page, and I only want to list groups which have MORE than four members.  Inside the `&lt;?php while ?&gt;` loop, I then want to four members who are apart of that group. I&#39;m having no trouble listing the groups, and listing the members in another internal loop, I just cannot refine the groups so that ONLY those with more than 4 members show.

Does anybody know how to do this? I&#39;m sure it&#39;s with MySQL joins.
