Why does Angular 2 use the .ts file extension?

Can anyone explain to me the difference between Document Types, Exported UTIs and Imported UTIs in Xcode 5.1? I want to be able to have my app automatically detect  file type based on file extension. Which of these three would I need to implement in order to do that?

Im creating a file upload function in node.js with express 3.

I would like to grab the file extension of the image. so i can rename the file and then append the file extension to it.

Why should we distinguish between text file and binary files when transmitting them? Why there are some channels designed only for textual data? At the bottom level, they are all bits.

I would greatly appreciate a short reasoning for each. If any of them are controversial, please note it. I&#39;m intentionally including even trivial file types for completeness.

**EDIT**

On one hand I would like to be platform independent in the future. On the other hand in the near future I would like to work with team members with similar setups. Folder compatibility between the setups is certainly an option, so configuration files holding paths may be included if it eases the workflow.&lt;br&gt;Again, I would surely appreciate an explanation what&#39;s what.

I would like to have jQuery limit a file upload field to only jpg/jpeg, png, and gif. I am doing backend checking with `PHP` already. I am running my submit button through a `JavaScript` function already so I really just need to know how to check for the file types before submit or alert.

for example I have a file /sdcard/sound.3ga that returns false ( like there is no activity that can handle this type of file ) , But when I open it from the file manager it opens with the media player with no problem

There is a freemarker file (ftl) in my IntelliJ project that is incorrectly recognized as a text file. There are many of the same type that are correct.

I am aware of the &quot;Mark as text&quot; option. This may be the original reason this file was marked as text but I am not provided with a &quot;mark as ftl file&quot; option to turn it back, if indeed this is the problem. If I mark other ftl files as txt, I am able to turn them back into ftl files as expected.

There is something I find very confusing when working in `React.js`. 

There are plenty of examples available on internet which use `.js` files with `React` but many others use `.jsx` files. 

I have read about `JSX` files and my understanding is that they just let you write `HTML` tags within your `JavaScript`. 
But the same thing can be written in `JS` files as well. 

So what is the actual difference between `.js` and `.jsx` ?

Webstorm doesn&#39;t recognize one of my .js files as a JavaScript file so I&#39;m losing syntax highlighting and being able to add break points. I&#39;ve looked in the `workspace.xml` file and the file in question seems to have similar settings to other .js files that work correctly.

If I change the name of the file it works ok. So somehow Webstorm is stuck on misinterpreting the type of a file that has this name. Where else can I edit the project?

How does one **reliably** determine a file&#39;s type? File extension analysis is not acceptable. There must be a rubyesque tool similar to the UNIX file(1) command?

This is regarding MIME or content type, not file system classifications, such as directory, file, or socket.

What do .c and .h file extensions mean to C?

I&#39;m developing a Linux application that has its own file format. I want my app to open when you double-click on those files.

How can I register a file extension and associate it with my application on Linux? I&#39;m looking for a way that is standard (works with GNOME and KDE based systems) and can be done automatic when my program is installed or run for the first time.

I&#39;m developing an application targeting .NET Framework 2.0 using C# for which I need to be able to find the default application that is used for opening a particular file type.

I know that, for example, if you just want to open a file using that application you can use something like:

    System.Diagnostics.Process.Start( &quot;C:\...\...\myfile.html&quot; );

to open an HTML document in the default browser, or

    System.Diagnostics.Process.Start( &quot;C:\...\...\myfile.txt&quot; );

to open a text file in the default text editor.

However, what I want to be able to do is to open files that don&#39;t necessarily have a *.txt* extension (for example), in the default text editor, so I need to be able to find out the default application for opening *.txt* files, which will allow me to invoke it directly.

I&#39;m guessing there&#39;s some Win32 API that I&#39;ll need to P/Invoke in order to do this, however a quick look with both Google and MSDN didn&#39;t reveal anything of much interest; I did find a very large number of completely irrelevant pages, but nothing like I&#39;m looking for.
