I&#39;m trying to create a custom TCP stack using Python 2.6.5 on Windows 7 to serve valid http page requests on port 80 locally.  But, I&#39;ve run into a snag with what seems like Windows 7 tightened up security.  This code worked on Vista.

How exactly do I get this to work on Windows 7?

I&#39;m writing an app that uses some functions and classes only available in the latest API level - 16, but I want it to run with no errors on devices with API level 15.

Let&#39;s use a couple of examples. A new class: `Android.widget.Advanceable`, and a new/renamed method: `View.setBackground()`:

I can do something like this:

	Advanceable myAdvanceable = ...;

And if I set a minSdk of 15 but a build target of 16 (i.e. in Project Properties-&gt;Android), it will actually compile with no errors. At least some of the time. Eclipse is a bit stochastic about the errors and will sometimes say &quot;setBackground() is only available in API level &gt;= 16&quot; or similar, but if I just clean the project those errors magically go away.

So my question is, am I allowed to do this? Won&#39;t the code crash if I run it on an API level 15 device? Will it only crash if it actually gets to the 16 code? Why doesn&#39;t Eclipse stop me from building it?

I have this in my manifest, and am using API level 16 functions but it still doesn&#39;t warn me:

Writing backwards compatible Android code

Greetings all,

This has confused me ever since I first started coding in C#.  My goal is to create an assembly that will run on the most recent .NET framework the user has, whatever that may be.  I don&#39;t want to require .NET 4 to be installed, but I want to use it if the user has it, and more importantly, I want it to still work if the user has _only_ .NET 4 and nothing below.  I&#39;m beginning to suspect this is not even possible.

I don&#39;t really understand what I&#39;m selecting when I change the &quot;Target Framework&quot; in Visual Studio.  Does that mean &quot;will be compatible with this version and up&quot;?  Or &quot;will be compatible with only this version&quot;?  It seems like it&#39;s the latter so far; my tests in virtual machines show .NET 4 targeted assemblies failing without .NET 4, and .NET 3.5 targeted assemblies failing without .NET 3.5.  Is there no way to set this so I can achieve maximum compatibility?

UPDATE: To clarify, I have a program that targets .NET 2.  The posters here seem to indicate that it should load with .NET 4.  But in an environment with only .NET 4 and nothing before it, it fails to load.

UPDATE2: Okay, figured it out, but it&#39;s far more complex than the posters here seem to think.  I&#39;m opening a different question to discuss the intricacies, but the short version is, you need an app.config with `&lt;supportedRuntime version=&quot;v4.0&quot; /&gt;` in it if you want to run non-.NET 4 assemblies on .NET 4.  They won&#39;t load without it.

What does it really mean to target a framework, and how do I maximize compatibility?

I&#39;m trying to tint an image prior to Android API level 21. I&#39;ve successfully tinted items using:

The armeabi is used for all ARM-devices, including armv7a and arm64-v8a.

I&#39;m maintaining library written for PHP 5.2 and I&#39;d like to create PHP 5.3-namespaced version of it. However, I&#39;d also keep non-namespaced version up to date until PHP 5.3 becomes so old, that even Debian stable ships it ;)

I&#39;ve got rather clean code, about 80 classes following `Project_Directory_Filename` naming scheme (I&#39;d change them to `\Project\Directory\Filename` of course) and only few functions and constants (also prefixed with project name).

Question is: what&#39;s the best way to develop namespaced and non-namespaced versions in parallel?

* Should I just create fork in repository and keep merging changes between branches? Are there cases where backslash-sprinkled code becomes hard to merge?

* Should I write script that converts 5.2 version to 5.3 or vice-versa? Should I use PHP tokenizer? `sed`? C preprocessor?

* Is there a better way to use namespaces where available and keep backwards compatibility with older PHP?

I have this in my Angular.js controller that downloads a CSV file:

I have noticed that some newer TensorFlow versions are incompatible with older CUDA and cuDNN versions. Does an overview of the compatible versions or even a list of officially tested combinations exist? I can&#39;t find it in the TensorFlow documentation.

I have a Date object in Java stored as Java&#39;s Date type.

I also have a Gregorian Calendar created date. The gregorian calendar date has no parameters and therefore is an instance of today&#39;s date (and time?).

With the java date, I want to be able to get the year, month, day, hour, minute, and seconds from the java date type and compare the the gregoriancalendar date.

I saw that at the moment the Java date is stored as a long and the only methods available seem to just write the long as a formatted date string. Is there a way to access Year, month, day, etc?

I saw that the `getYear()`, `getMonth()`, etc. methods for `Date` class have been deprecated. I was wondering what&#39;s the best practice to use the Java Date instance I have with the `GregorianCalendar` date.

My end goal is to do a date calculation so that I can check that the Java date is within so many hours, minutes etc of today&#39;s date and time.

I&#39;m still a newbie to Java and am getting a bit puzzled by this.

Uninitialized constant ActiveSupport::Dependencies::Mutex (NameError)

I do most of my programming in Python 3.x on Windows 7, but now I need to use the Python Imaging Library (PIL), ImageMagick, and wxPython, all of which require Python 2.x.

Can I have both Python 2.x and Python 3.x installed in Windows 7? When I run a script, how would I &quot;choose&quot; which version of Python should run it? Will the aforementioned programs be able to handle multiple versions of Python installed at once? I have searched for hours and hours for how to do this to no avail.

I&#39;m looking to write preferences that can be applied to both 3.0 and pre-3.0 devices. Discovering that `PreferenceActivity` contains deprecated methods (although these are used in the accompanying sample code), I looked at `PreferenceFragement` and the compatibility package to solve my woes.

It appears, though, that `PreferenceFragment` isn&#39;t in the compatibility package. Can anyone tell me whether this was intentional?  If so, can I easily target a range of devices (i.e. &lt; 3.0 and &gt;=3.0) or will I have to jump through hoops?  If it wasn&#39;t intentionally excluded, can we expect a new release of the compatibility package?  Or is there another workaround that is safe to use?

I&#39;m building a small Java app and hoping to use logback for logging.

My app has a dependency on an older project that does its logging via 

    org.apache.commons | com.springsource.org.apache.commons.logging | 1.1.1

...so my plan was to use 

    org.slf4j | jcl-over-slf4j | 1.5.6

...to redirect the JCL logging to 

    org.slf4j | slf4j-api | 1.6.0

...and ultimately to 

    ch.qos.logback | logback-classic | 0.9.22
    ch.qos.logback | logback-core | 0.9.22

so my app can log through logback via its slf4j API while the old library code can log into the same location via the redirection.

Alas, this results in 

    java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: org.slf4j.spi.LocationAwareLogger.log(Lorg/slf4j/Marker;Ljava/lang/String;ILjava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/Throwable;)V
	at   org.apache.commons.logging.impl.SLF4JLocationAwareLog.info(SLF4JLocationAwareLog.java:141)

I&#39;ve tried higher and lower verision numbers on some of these jars and also digging through API documentation and such... but I&#39;m unable to find and solve the problem.

Although logback is considered the &quot;strategic&quot; logging framework, I have some leeway in which logging mechanism I ultimately use. I&#39;d hope to use either logback or log4j, though, and I definitely want to merge the old project&#39;s logging into whatever the &quot;new&quot; logging framework ends up being, via a common configuration.

When using fragments, and adding transitions between them to the backstack, I&#39;d like to achieve the same behavior of onResume of an activity, i.e., whenever a fragment is brought to &quot;foreground&quot; (visible to the user) after poping out of the backstack, I&#39;d like some kind of callback to be activated within the fragment (to perform certain changes on a shared UI resource, for instance).

I saw that there is no built in callback within the fragment framework. is there s a good practice in order to achieve this?

I have been working on an intranet website for over 6 months
were I have been using the below html5 `doctype` and edge compatibility meta tag to force Internet Explorer to not emulate an older browser version, and this has worked ok.

The reason I was doing it this way is because the place I work uses a policy setting to enable compatibility view for all intranet sites, and this approach using the `EDGE` setting has worked in Internet Explorer 9.

Over a month ago I was upgraded to Internet Explorer 11 and the site still worked as expected.

Today this stopped working as expected, I can&#39;t say for sure but I think that the policy that forces the compatibility view was not enabled in IE11 and now it is... and since this has been enabled the compatibility meta tag is no longer doing what is expected, and this site is being run in the Enterprise mode which emulates IE8.

Does anyone know how to fix this and force IE11 to be used on an intranet site when the compatibility &quot;Enterprise mode&quot; is being enforced? and can&#39;t be disabled via the browser settings?

    HTML1122: Internet Explorer is running in Enterprise Mode emulating IE8.

 It is as if version 8 is being treated as the `edge` when this intranet compatibility setting is enabled in IE11.

Internet Explorer 11 disable &quot;display intranet sites in compatibility view&quot; via meta tag not working

My Internet Explorer 11 on my Windows 8.1 Surface tablet defaults to document mode 7, causing a lot of websites to render wrongly.

When I open the Developer tools, it states that it defaults to document mode 7 because of Intranet-compatibility settings.

However, I haven&#39;t changed these settings manually and I&#39;m browsing Internetpages!

I tried to reset the Internet Explorer settings without any luck.

Any ideas?

Remove any one of these conditions, and things work fine :-)

But as far as I can tell, between-window `postMessage` only appears to work in IE10 when both windows share an origin.  (Well, in fact -- and weirdly -- the behavior is slightly more permissive than that: two different origins that share a *host* seem to work, too).

So, from the last bullet, I really think there is no way around this, but I had to see if I could get a definitive answer as my team would like to upgrade from .NET 4.0 to .NET 4.5. However, we have to support XP.

The only thing I could think of is creating two separate solutions, but then the codebases would have to diverge if we used .NET 4.5 features.

Having a good view of the supported versions of both Springboot and Springcloud will make things simpler.

Does the community have an approach on how they choose to get started on a specific version combination when they embark on a SpringCloud project?

There are no maven errors in using 1.5.2.RELEASE with Camden.SR5 however when the app starts it throws the NoClassDefFoundError.

Using 1.4.5 with Brixton.SR6 is a combination that generally works well for me.

Is there a compatibility matrix of Spring-boot and Spring-cloud?

I am building a Angular4 project using Angular CLI (1.1.2). It runs perfectly in Chrome (Version 59.0.3071.115) and firefox(54.0.1) but when I tried to use IE11 (Verison 11.0.9600.18738) nothings shows up and when I open the develper mode in IE, it shows me the following Error:

    SCRIPT5022: Exception thrown and not caught
    File: polyfills.bundle.js, Line: 829, Column: 34

And the detailed Error message is following:

Angular4 Application running issues in IE11

I have Java 6 and 7 installed on my machine. Gradle uses 1.7 (checked using `gradle -v`). But I need to compile my code to be compatible with Java 1.6. As far as I understand the documentation I can use the `sourceCompatibility` property to do so (and indirectly the `targetCompatibility` which defaults to the  `sourceCompatibility`).

So I added the following line to my build file (on the root level, not in any closure):

    sourceCompatibility = 1.6

(to be sure I also added the `targetCompatibility = 1.6` in some trials, but that should not make a difference)


To check whether the result was actually compatible with 1.6 I unzipped the resulting jar, `cd` into the `WEB-INF/classes` folder and used `javap -verbose` on the first `.class` file I encountered. But no matter whether I set the target compatibility or whether I used 1.5 instead of 1.6 or whether I specified it as string (`&#39;1.6&#39;`), each time the result of javap was

    minor version: 0
    major version: 51

Afaik this means it is Java 1.7 Bytecode, which is wrong.

Any ideas why the `sourceCompatibility`-setting doesn&#39;t work? Or is `javap` not the correct way to check the compatibility?

Yes, this is actually a multi-project build but I only checked one of the subprojects&#39; build results. In this subproject&#39;s build file I made the mentioned changes to be sure they are actually applied. In addition, I added the following in the root project&#39;s build file (as @Vidya proposed as well):

    allprojects {
        sourceCompatibility = 1.6
        targetCompatibility = 1.6
    }

But this didn&#39;t help either.

**UPDATE 2:**
I checked the setting of sourceCompatibility with this snippet in the relevant build.gradle files:

    }

It revealed that my sourceCompatibility is set to 1.7 although I tried to set it to 1.6. When I extracted the simplest subproject and built in on its own the sourceCompatibility is set correctly and the Java Byte code is compatible to 1.6. However, even this sub-project uses the wrong sourceCompatibility when used in the multi project build.


BTW: The plugins I use in some of the sub projects are: `java`, `war`, `jetty`, `gwt`

**UPDATE 3:**
I changed the built scripts to just use the java plugin (and thus just construct some jars) and removed the usage of the `war`, `jetty` and `gwt` plugin. But still all the projects are set to sourceCompatibility 1.7 despite me setting it in the `allprojects` section and in some of the sub projects. All that is left now in the build scripts is the declaration of some decencies (maven, files and other sub projects), the declaration of the repositories to use, the declaration of some others tasks (that the build-task does not depend on, so it shouldn&#39;t be affected) and the configuration of the manifest file for the created jar files (I add a specification and an implementation version and title to the manifest file). 

I don&#39;t see how any of that would affect the sourceCompatibility setting.

Gradle sourceCompatibility has no effect to subprojects

I have Internet Explorer installed on my computer but needed to test compatibility mode of IE 7. After changing the document mode to IE 7, it set it as default and now I can&#39;t change it. The default is stuck on IE 7?

I know that you can&#39;t (at least not easily) restore a SQL Server 2012 backup on SQL Server 2008. But how does it work for SQL Server 2014 to SQL Server 2012 ?

On database level there is the property to adjust the compatibility mode to any other SQL Server version.

How does this helps or work ? Will it only disallow the features from 2014? 

To be honest I already tried to restore a backup, but 2012 didn&#39;t recognize the datafile, so I couldn&#39;t click `ok Button` to start the restore procedure.

Did I miss some important option ?

Now, the only TSQL way I know of checking database compatibility is through `sp_dbcmptlevel`.
As far as I know, [`ALTER DATABASE Compatibility Level`][2] is just for **setting** the compatibility level, not getting info.

How should one to get compatibility level without using GUI?

How to check SQL Server Database compatibility after sp_dbcmptlevel is deprecated?

With iOS 4 coming out soon, I have already planned to include an iAd in a future update of an app of mine. I assume that this will make my app unusable for anyone on a firmware lower than 4.0. Is there a way to change those variables and the .xib file based on the user&#39;s firmware?
